Thread: 8.10 problem, please help!

  1. #1

    Default 8.10 problem, please help!

    Ok, everyone knew this would happen, so here I am.

    I get the following error when I want to install:

    [ 1.805682] ACPI: Aborted because invalid compressed format (err=1).
    [ 6.664407] invalid compressed format (err=1)
    [ 6.846994] Kernal panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,1)

    I'm trying to load it on a 17" touch panel PC, running a via eden 500mhz processor, 1 gb ram and using a 4gb industrial CF card as storage.

    Any help would be great....

    Im not sure which arguments it is but as it wants to boot you can choose install arguments. Then there are items you can disable.

    When you boot, you press F6 or whatever to add to boot options. Add (to the already long list) the following:
    Code:
    acpi=off nolapic all_generic_ide

    When you boot and it gives you the options to boot the live distro, boot from first hard drive, etc.

    Ok, it seems to load now, but the screen just goes blank? How do I add my screen drivers to the cd? or to the install, before I start the os?

    *BUMP*
    If I start using the "safe graphics mode" it works fine, so it must be driver related then?

    Good morning DDV, yes it is a drivers problem. What did you end up installing?

    Ok so you can boot into safe mode. I presume after it is installed, do you have a driver for the device? If so what does it say (or called)
