Laptop for R8000?

A friend of mine is immigrating to New Zealand soon and needs a laptop.

Basically for varsity, to take notes, checking e-mail, Skype and a bit of surfing.

Her budget is quite constrained and is limited to R8k all costs inclusive.

General requirements:

Preferably to have XP and not Vista loaded on it.
A webcam for her Skyping needs.
1 gig of RAM should do.
80Gig or 120Gig HDD.
Wifi, SD card slot, USB and Bluetooth.

Anyway - you guys are the specialists - I'll leave it to you.
Don't know if this budget is big enough.

Oh - looking to purchase from the 15th of December.

The budget is definitely enough, and there are \options with all makes. I personally think Lenova stands out as a brand which is reliable and good value for money: Look at this for R 5000 http://mybroadband.co.za/news/Hardware/6029.html

Makro has some good deals on Fujitsu-Siemens while HP is another brand to consider. Just don’t buy a netbook or something similar with that budget – big mistake in my mind!
