The company is raising the bar on consumer broadband today by introducing data speeds of up to 30 megabits-per-second (Mbps) in Keller later this summer and in other markets later this year. Prices start at $34.95 per month.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

    Maximum connection speeds and pricing for Fios consumer services are:

    * 5 Mbps/2 Mbps for $34.95 a month as part of a calling package, or $39.95 a month stand-alone
    * 15 Mbps/2 Mbps for $44.95 a month as part of a calling package, or $49.95 a month stand-alone
    * 30 Mbps/5 Mbps at pricing to be announced later

    * In California, Verizon plans to pass about 100,000 homes and businesses with FTTP technology in the Huntington Beach area and in other parts of Southern California.

    * In Florida, Verizon plans to pass about 100,000 homes and businesses with FTTP technology in the Tampa area and parts of Hillsborough County.

    * In Texas, Verizon plans to pass 100,000 homes in part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, including Keller, which was announced by the company in May.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

    Cool beans. Fiber to the home is here. I guess over the next 2-3 years this will expand significantly.

    Correct me if i'm wrong, but...

    512 Kbps in S.A = around R900
    15 Mbps in USA = around R269 (Exchange rate is about 6 rand to 1 dollar)

    Sheeesh, someone tell me I am wrong.

    F%#@!!!

    just imagine how online games would be with a direct fibre connection to a gaming server *shakes head* It just goes from bad to worse... it takes Telkom 3 or 4 years to bring us ADSL... i can imagine that FTTP will happen here in a 100 years... thats if corruption hasnt taken over the country by then...

    Cant someone in government actually realise that if they want this to be the african century, we need existing telecoms technology NOW... not in 10 years time! By then we would be 30 years behind. We are now falling behind at an exponential rate...
