Hi I want to start a thread so that we can share when there are network problems!

The call centre does not know if there are network issues.

1) Midrand - Device changes from EVDO to 1X as soon as I connect to the internet & then drops the connection! "Could Be Device" or Base Station issue?

Hi my prime device is less than 1 week old, since yesterday night I've also been experiencing the problem. I've got full signal on EVDO and as soon as I connect to the internet it switches to 1X. Sometimes it stays on EVDO, but the signal disappears as soon as I disconnect the internet it goes back to full signal on EVDO. I've been informed some people in KZN is also experiencing this same problem. I'm not sure if it is device or network related, I do know some people that don't have this problem.

I did a Speed Test last night, I'm in Kyalami.
got 83kbps download and 43kbps upload with 843ms ping to Joburg.

When I did one a few months ago:
got 1072kbps download and 384kbps upload with 193ms ping to Joburg.

Whats going on???

Sometimes when I connect it disconnects after +- 15 second and
the next time I dial I get invalid username and password
the second time i get ppp link terminated and
the 3rd time I dial I connect but have no internet.

Are there any one else experiencing this on Neotel prime?

The name os this thread should be "Why you should not join Neotel" :p

Go on ... tell me to bugger off ... but the truth hurts doesn't it. :D

Probably

HellTel
Are you for telkom?

I would rather work through a few problems with neotel and not support telkom

+1

I tried Neotel, it was a shocking experience. I am back to Telkom and although they have their problems, right now no service out there beats it.

Parkhurst, slow response, constant disconnects and timeouts.
Nothing near to the speed I read about a few months ago -- my experience is that this link is on average no better (sometimes) worse than a dial-up connection. At best a dual ISDN line would out perform my neoflex connection.

Guess it's time to consider options to leave Neotel and move back to ADSL. Yes Helltel you were right, so don't rub it in.

Hey all,

as far as i know the reason it switches from EVDO to X1 has something to do with you provision on your profile on neotel side.

Give them a call and ask for technical. Then ask the technical people to please go over you profile and check you are provisioned to EVDO and not 1X.

cheers

If your device goes from EVDO to 1X get a new one!

I am on my 3rd Device already!!!

I know of 3 people who have gone through devices like underware!

It's not the device! it is your service profile on NeoTel's System.

You need to have your profile reset or have someone in NeoTel review it.

On NeoTel's system there is a part were by they can provision you on what speed you will get on the network. Make sure that your profile has not be downed to 1X, and ask the techie to make double sure you are set to EVDO.

It seems getting a new device helps because you are set EVDO to Start off with, then a few days later the system tones you down to the lower 1X service.

I have no idea why this is, With the three people i helped correct this i found it was the same problem for all three.

P.S. once they have pushed you up to EVDO again leave your device off for 30 mins. Then try again, All should be sunny

If I have read this correctly, then you are saying a person's Neotel Profile magicially changes to a lower rate, in other words throttled.

Therefore what I can deduce based on the fact that profiles dont change by themselves is that Neotel, is not Unlimted Unshaped etc etc.

Because if this is a BUG, you would expect a Solution to this.

Otherwise, the system is overloaded and this is a form of equaling the data performance over the entire network, ie new users 100% for x amount of time, then 90% then 80 % until guess what No breach of contract but accurate enough to pass the 7 day, 1 month acceptance level.

Very interesting, intelligent and logical explanation. It makes a lot of sense.

This explains, like you put it, "the magical profile changes" ..

lmao @ NeoChit"

Plus as soon as you try to download a torrent you get disconnected

I am not sure if this happens to other people though.

My speed is fine and I can download normal files

But as soon is I download a torrent I get disconnected.
I also think it is something at neotel that disconnect me when I use torrents

My connection is dog slow i was thinking its the weather but the signal strengh has droped quite a bit.

it's not the weather..... I wish Neotel would just let people know they have a problem, or need to ensure equal bandwith.....

But NO...
