Thread: IPOD

1. #1

Default IPOD

I think the IPOD is the best MP3 player around. Let's deal with the 40 Gig one in this forum. It can store all the information you want and programs. It plays your music. The only thing to not like is the price! Please give me your thoughts!

Not sure if this it is the same model, but there is one with a feature that lets you broadcast on the FM frequency, so you could tune into it in your car.

Now thats kewl ;-)

I agree - I have heard you can use it as a external hard disk and as a address book as well. Nickste - you are right - its a little extra gadget called a iTrip (see apple.co.za) which one can buy for about R560. You can also buy tons of cool things such as adapters to let your iPod record your voice.

Hi guys

There is an FM adapter that one can use for any player that costs less than $ 10-00. You simply plug it into your cigarette lighter and plug in the source… Not specific to IPod, but still something worth knowing about. I have mixed feelings about IPop… I like to functionality and storage ability, but it is very bulky in comparison to flash drive players. I have an MP3 player that is just slightly bigger than the old R 5-00 coin (battery included!). It looks very similar to something a girl will wear around her neck. I don’t know if I would like to carry around an IPod simply for music… If it replaces a palmtop or mobile phone it is OK, but if not then no thanks.

Regards,

What is the storage capasity? One could always get a iPod mini, smaller storage, but smaller. The iPod FM transmiter plugs straight into the top of the iPod (so it looks like it is part of the iPod) and does not have to be pluged into the cigarette lighter as it gets its power from the iPod (you may of course have to plug the iPod in if your battery is low)

Oh, IPOD Mini, more over-priced than the original IPOD[}:)], nice one Kilps.

Also there are lots of better MP3 players than the IPOD

-Go to www.pcpro.co.uk
-Click 'Reviews' & then 'Labs'
- Then a little way down 'Mp3 players'

Dominic Rooney what is your definition of over priced? Remember value for money. It may cost a lot but it is worth it!

I have a 256mb flash drive/mp3 (and wma) player and I’m quite happy with it. i get around 7 hours playback with one AAA battery. i mostly use it to take work home, but the mp3 playing capabilities are nice for when I occasionally travel on metrosnail (.co.za???).

What i would like to see though is a (1gb) USB flash drive with a built in charger (at an affordable price).

There are high-capacity Flash MP3 players, they just cost so much because Flash memory is far more pricey than an equivalent hard-drive.

I was speaking to someone who has an MP3 player and it cost them 800 rand! An IPOD costs approx. 1600 rand and it was more then 40 times the amount of space and it stores all your word docs and programs etc. [:)]

There's the link for you. A 40GB IPOD, which you said we were supposingly dealing with is ~R3600.

Oh and IPOD Mini's are about ~R2000.

So as usual, chamdo, you are talking absolute crap and there's no such thing as a R1600 IPOD.

P.S Chamdo you have repeatly put stupid comments on these forums and I advise to make intelligentcomments in the future.

chambdo: Your English sucks, maybe you should go and get "extra English". Uhh...whatever.

And in case you were unaware, we live in South Africa, not China.
