ADSL Problems in Rondebosch

Since Friday, my ADSL in Rondebosch has been disconnecting frequently and Yesterday it failed to connect at all - all day. I haven't been home yet, today, so I don't know whether the problem is resolved.

Has anyone else experienced problems, this weekend? (Obviously, I checked that there is bandwidth on my account. (WebAfrica))

EDIT: Found this thread (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=157325) talking about an issue in Pretoria. Could mine be related?

Yes, I have had the same problem and I am also in Rondebosch. I got disconnected on Thursday evening and then again on Saturday evening, my link was down the mornings after when I checked when woke up.
Hope it gets sorted out soon as it messed up a big download I was busy with - grrrr !!!
As expected - Telkom call center say nothing is wrong at all generally or with my line.
 
My link was up when I left for work this morning. Down when I got home. Just called Telkom, they say nothing wrong with line as ADSL light is on and they can see all is OK, PPP is off so is an ISP thing, I must call them (forget that I have tried 2 different ISPs). Then it just suddenly came back on. Grrr - this is getting annoying now. Funny how it always comes back on when I am on phone to them.
 
You lucky yours just came back on. Mines been off since Friday...
 
Same problem here, also living in Rondebosch.

Went off Saturday, was on and off on Sunday. Since Monday at around 12:00 it went offline and has not worked since.

Will check again this evening...
 
Pilgrim, this is sounding like a general issue ... someone who was home using my DSL said mine went off around 12ish as well so ... suspect !!!! When I called Telkom they reset the line which should take about 5-10 seconds but took about 5 minutes instead ... again - suspect. I'm going to keep a close watch on it and will post here any ups/downs to see if they match yours.
 
Mine was still down when I got home, yesterday, and before I left for work this morning. The router says it has connected but the PPP connection doesn't come up and an IP address is not acquired.

I phoned Web Africa - my ISP. They said I was not connected. (More specifically, they said that there was *one* connection on the line and it had been up since that morning. I left my router off all day so that could only have been my sister in Port Elizabeth who uses my account.)

Web Africa said to phone Telkom because there was nothing they could do apart from confirm that there was bandwidth on my account.
 
I am really thinking there is something on the exchange weird.
I gather ADSL light on = line OK, PPP light on = ISP login OK. So ... with no PPP light implies ISP but ... I tried my OpenWeb a/c and my Telkom a/c and neither worked so can't see how it is the ISP. I am the only one who has the login to both.
I hope this comes right soon as it is highly annoying.
 
I phoned Telkom and this is what they said:

* The Rondebosch DSLAM has been down since Sunday.
* The support ticket for the issue is: 4 awk 09 02 09
* They are currently working on the problem.
* There is no E.T.A. on a resolution to the problem.

It doesn't seem like they are in any hurry to fix the problem.

IF YOU ARE AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE: Please get on their case about it. Quote the reference number they gave me and ask that they escalate it.
 
I stay near golden grove. Phone number is 686 etc - I phoned - exchange got hit by lightning. They are working on it, ETA 2 days.

My adsl is still down - who is down - who is up. Please update.

My link has just been down (approx Thu 5:50pm) so called and they told me still major exchange problem post lightning storm on Saturday. Annoying that I have been up then went down. Then came back up 5 minutes later.
 
I have the "disappear" affect every now and a again. DSL light goes off for 5mins then it fine for a week. then goes off for 2 hours sometimes then is fine again for a while.

Otherwise speeds are 100% local latenacy 193ms and international 465ms to london.
