Hi Guys...

Is anyone here connected to the Sandton Wimax Base Station? I moved to sandton yesterday,look my wimax equiptment with,but I guess i need to set me settings to connect to the sandton base station. So if anyone is connected to the Sandton Base station please let me know.

Hi Fanix

I am connected to Screamer WiMAX in Sandton.

From my investigations there are only 3 providers of WiMAX in tou could investigate.
1. The first is Telkom who will not give you a WiMAX connection iof you stay in an area where they could give you an ADSL connection and this is true of Sandton.
2. The second is Vodacom/i Burst who only provide WiMAX connections to businesses and have priced themselves right out of the price range of the residential consumer.
3. Finally there is Screamer who I am very happy with. The only problem is that because Screamer uses a different WiMAX band to Telkom's you cannot use your Telkom CPE to connect to the Screamer network.
 
I need to find someone with WiMAX in Sandton then.. do you think if I just enter the Base Station Parameters it will allow me to connect? :)
 
I doubt it. You need to talk to Telkom about it. They need to setup service flows on their side.
 
Have you sorted out your problem yet ????

Where in Sandton do you live - Towers are in Bryanston, Honeydew, Fourways, Sunninghill and one or two others.

I stay in Sandown, very close to sandton city. and now, have not yet sorted it out :( I need the parameters to see if I can connect to the base station.

This isn't like Wifi. You need to be configured on the Base Station before you can connect.
You need to get Telkom to do this.
