Hi guys
I thought we could get some support here for SMS Delivery reports for the iPhone on the Vodacom network.
Please show you support here and add any comments you wish.
The way which I proposed to Vodacom (vodacom3g) last year October was to, like all the other main cellular network providers in the world, provide us with a code which we type before the SMS e.g. *0# which we add to the beginning of our text message and once the SMS message has been delivered you will get a text message back saying that it has been delivered.
He did reply saying that it has been added to the list of requests, but I haven't heard anything since...
Some reasons I put forward to vodacom3g were:
- I think with the recent launch of the 3G iPhone here, iPhone users would love this! I think with all the iPhone hype and that as well, it gives potential customers one less reason not to get the iPhone! (which could increase iPhone sales etc etc. lol ).
- Also... To meet international standards!! All the main carriers overseas (O2, T Mobile , Virgin, even Vodafone who I understand partly owns Vodacom ) have this. Surely we (Vodacom) want to compete with these main carriers and live up to international standards ?
- Another reason is for customers with phones (not just iPhones) that don't support the SMS Delivery Report feature and that want to make use of it! It makes another happy Vodacom Customer
MTN even has one... rrr is reported to be working on MTN as a Delivery Report code.. Type it at the beginning of your message
Why can't us Vodacom users have one ?
Lets get this done guys!
