Thread: unreliable, slow connection

    Default unreliable, slow connection

    All,

I've used iBurst for five days now and will be returning the equipment tomorrow.

    My experience with iBurst:

    - the system is very unreliable (disconnects often)
    - incredibly slow (slower than a 56k modem)
    - often web pages do not load entirely

This is definitely not an option worth considering. It is nowhere near broadband speeds. My ISDN modem gives far greater performance. I live in the heart of the countries CBD (Sandton), so I don't buy the argument that its due to signal strength.

When exactly did u experience these problems u listed above, did u out find whats the problem wit the iBurst techs (if the fone was answered), I ask u all these bcos i was told they were "fixing" something in my area and the server was down over the weekend.

PS: I'm not the mouthpiece of WBS....still not satisfied myself

You just have to read some of my posts on this forum to know that I have moaned whenever I've had a problem.

This last weekend was the most stable iBurst experience I've had since I got it in mid-November, even my UTD's Deranged Traffic Light Thang never happened over the weekend.

I suggest that you take it back to WBS (don't miss your oportunity to get out of the contract), if after cancelling, WBS want to keep you as a customer, they should send someone out to do a signal test, etc etc etc.
Trolls stab you in the back and bleed you dry like mosquitoes, and that's why I don't feed the BBL trolls with any new posts.

    Default Sandton is jinxed

    Hi Jay,

i'm in the Hurlingham/Sandton area as well and i couldn't get onto the network the entire weekend even though i had 100% signal strength.
I updated the firmware (which is supposed to give connection stability, which i suppose it did, if you consider i was disconnected 100% of the time ) on Friday and everything was hunky-dory, but from Saturday i was unable to connect.

I phoned help-desk and after being disconnected twice, managed to find out that everything is supposedly fine and that there are plenty of people connecting through the Sandton base station.
I'll have to try again when i get home.

So far no real big problems except for the disco lights...hehe I have even been playing CS Source with pings of 60-80ms constant on SGS.
Speed has been relatively stable between 50 and 95 KB/s - I just wonder for how long.
Nothing on earth is new, just re-invented.
