Thread: CaCell Nokia 5800, shocking after sales service

Default CaCell Nokia 5800, shocking after sales service

I bought my Nokia 5800 from CaCell. It developed the common screen and earpiece problems that a lot of the early ones have. A simple google search brings up a lot of discussion about both these problems:

    http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/...hread.id=12931

Sent it back to CaCell on 26 May, they finally sent it back after 3 weeks, and it wouldn't even turn on. The battery was broken. Finally after a week I got a working battery, and then found out the original scrren and earpiece problems still exist, they fixed NOTHING! Sent it back again, now I can't get a date out of them for when it will be fixed, and they refuse to swop it for a new or working one. Don't know what else I can do, I contacted my local Nokia repair centre and they say it's not an SA phone (they say the IMEI says it's not SA). Don't know if I can sue CaCell or something. Maybe the small claims court. This is the most ridiculous service I have ever received, I'm going to tell EVERYONE I know NEVER to buy anything from CaCell again. And my faith in Nokias is pretty much shot as well. Nokia could have helped me, I've been using Nokias for 10 years now. Probably the last one though after the "don't care, not our problem" service I received. I've been without a phone now for more than a month!!! Anyone with suggestions?

I have experienced CaCell before and also will NEVER buy from them again. They are completely incompetent. Actually I think they just pretend to be incompetent while they spin one lie after another.

I called them once about a phone. His mother answered and said he's at the Mosque and I should call back when he returns.

    I guess it's a small operation.

I'm getting close to the point where I'm going to take legal action, no matter what it costs. That's why we get such shocking service in SA, they just rely on the fact that we won't do anything about it. Unlucky for CaCell I'm pedantic and pissed off enough to not let this go. They're in for a world of pain, I just have to figure out the best way to cause the pain. Hopefully posting on here at least costs them a few customers. I'm trying to find out if I could go the small claims court route, and what I can sue for in there (I know the maximum is R7000, which is ok, but I need to know what specific, like inconvenience and lies).

I'm also a victim of Cacell. They continuously lie and also noticed they become hostile. I told them I will report them to ICASA but they don't care.

I have my HTC in for repairs now for 6 weeks but still nothing from them. First, it was 14 days, then it was 2 -4 weeks. then 4 to 6 weeks, now it is 6-8 weeks for phone repairs. I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done to them apart from warning people not to buy from them. They are also not interested in responding to hellopeter.

MobileOu, I'm looking into what legal action I can take without breaking the bank. I made a complaint on hellopeter, but as you remarked, that doesn't help if they're not interested. I found another site: getclosure.co.za . They seem to follow up the complaint on your behalf, and if they get no response, they advise you on who to contact to take it further. Pop me a pm or email and we can talk about taking this forward. They might have gotten away with it up to now, but they've messed with the wrong person when they told me I'm lying when I say it's broken. Maybe something like a class action law suit (don't know if those exist in SA) would be possible. Or at least a complaint to the relevant government body for fraud or something. I'll speak to a friend who's a lawyer and hear what our options are.

Thanks for the warning...a while ago I was considering getting a phone from them but something didn't quite feel right - I guess sometimes that gut feeling pays off!

Sad that they had to screw a few folk over though.

Thanks! Was also thinking of purchasing from them. Thank God I didn't.

take them to court ... if everyone gets together to complain something will come of it ... if at worst they should take the phone back and refund the money ... yes they sell grey stock and should honour the international warranty .... but they most probably see it as too much effort and money to send the phones back to the suppliers .... bought from them many years ago, and they seemed ok then ...

EDIT: i also will be wary buying from them

stopped buying phones cash, its so much cheaper just taking it on a contract, and then just not using the SIM

I should have googled CaCell Problems first. Now I am also a victim. I purchased a BB playbook and the camera packed up. They have more excuses than a pine tree has needles. I have laid a complaint by the national Complaints Commission but that also seems to be taking forever.
