"What is arguably the most significant feature in the iPhone 3GS is the addition of the new iPhone OS 3.0 software."
...No it's not, we all (2G,3G,3GS) have those features now (minus some features on the "iPhone 2G").

most significant feature is that vodacom has run out of stop and has a 3 week waiting list...
I don't see how this is a 'terrible review'. The new software came through with the 3GS and it was never inferred that it is exclusive to the device.
For the iPhone franchise as a whole the 3.0 OS has done a considerable amount. This, when coupled with the hardware advancements in the 3GS makes it a pretty considerable phone.
Don't get me wrong, I love the phone. I just feel that the review focused too much on the incorrect assumption that somehow the features in OS 3.0 are exclusive to the 3GS. This might put potential users off the cheaper iPhone 3G contracts because they need fundamental features (like copy & paste) when in fact the 3G does that just fine now, unless you really need more speed, a better camera, or that digital compass...oh, and voice dialing maybe?!
Thanks for the input. I understand how it might appear to novice users but this is a technologically orientated website full of users who are 'in the know'.
Let me categorically state however that the new OS 3.0 can be applied to ANY iPhone and is not exclusive to the 3GS.
It was a great phone and I loved playing with it!
Tomo3000...yeah I have the 3G, and this weekend (mind you, I was a bit drunk by then..hehe) our neighbour called me over for a chat and pulled out his 3GS, maaaan as a long time 3G user (well, not long but 7 months is enough) I have to say the 3GS speed (even just on basic operations) blew me away, hard to imagine how much difference the speed increase makes to overall usability. I can also add that this was exactly the type of thing iPhone users needed since the lack of multitasking on the OS is much easier to overlook when things are this responsive...
P.S. To be honest I enjoy the push features much more than actual multitasking, now if only they would focus a bit more on push and have a "push stack" interface or something similar the Palm Pre won't look that cool anymore...

Fridex - is the wait confirmed? I cant even get Vodacom to commit to September
I am ready to port from MTN to Vodacom and get the iphone, but no Vodacom subscriber knows when they getting stock.
WTF??
Best is to phone your local Vodashop and ''book'' one with them.
That's what I did and got my iPhone 3G the day it got released in South Africa.
I had to avoid eye contact in the shop when they gave me my ''little black box'', cos there were a que of people staring at me with hate in their eyes. Must admit, I did enjoy the moment.![]()
The Samsung Galaxy S2 - It is the only phone you will ever need.
hmmm.. supercharged cpu and exploding.. i wonder..The most significant changes have taken place within the hardware of the device. The ‘S’ in the phone’s title represents ‘speed’ owing to the fact that Apple has supercharged the CPU.
Believe it or not I've had quite a time finding stock in Hong Kong. 3 Network has but that's with contract.
Anyway I ended buying two on the Hong Kong Apple Online Store, I was restricted to one 32GB and one 16GB :/
Most stores told me they'd have stock again in about 3 weeks.
On the plus side, mine are Blackand not white like we're forced to get here.
