R100k Graphics card?

think that's bad, that is using the 8800 series architecture, not even the new GTX2xx series architecture! you gotta love the amount those cards cost :)
 
i don't see why this is news, these things have been around for ages?

1.5 GB??? please man the 5800 has 4GB

Not about specs, it's about cost. I am shocked at the price of the graphics card is all... help me get over it by showing me more expensive cards so I can re-adjust my expectations lol.
 
Right, I assumed by the price that they wouldn't sell it to a gamer ;)
 
Yip, professional CAD stuff that. Not all video cards are meant for gaming.
 
Well if anyone knows of a good quadro for under 4k available in SA, let me know lol...
Need it for CAD.
 
seems the lowest is $2,949.99 at tiger direct. (for the 5800)

the quadro 5600 came out like 2 years ago (iirc)
 
Thanks Keeper - ja, that's what I dont get - these cards are ancient but obviously niche so can cost an arm and a leg. Getting them in SA through the regular channels is not easy.

i've seen the new ones go for around the R30,000 - R40,000 mark, brand new at rectron/frontosa or something.... (so that seems quite resonable)

that would be your best bet.

anyone got a pricelist for mbp?
