It's a fine balance between allowing people to get help and policing the thing to death, at the moment I am taking the more lenient approach. I was really hoping for some decent uptake on this thread, yet people still post all over the place without the required info

Anyway this is waaay off topic. So wrapping up.

I read the first page and followed the instructions. I phoned 155 and after a long fault finding session, the technical person said that my modem is faulty (even though local access is fine and International access is intermittent).

I also searched the forum for a similar problem and couldn't find anything. I then posted a question on here just to see if it was only me experiencing it.

I see no harm in that.

    Sorry for irritating you.

    Hi All,

There also in addition to this seem to be some interesting routing issues particularly between Neotel and Vodacom with route aggregations/deaggregations looking at the talk on the network operators list.

I've let some people in Vodacom know what we are seeing and they have informed me its being worked on.

Having huge latency and packet loss issues since last night. Logged a fault with 155. Problem seems to be on the breakout of Vodacom's network because the speedtest is fine.

Yes, I didn't do anything, it just came right. It was definitely not the modem, it must of been network problems.

I think the reason the consultant said it was my modem was because at the time I had the problem, I told him that browsing via my my phone was working which it was. I have no idea why I couldn't browse via the modem yet could browse via the phone.

After almost a week I got home last night to find that my internet was usable again. Woot! A follow-up with 155 and lots of prodding from VodacomData earlier in the week revealed that my local BTS (?Base Transmission Station?) was broken. And helpdesk initially insisted that I clear my cookies and reset my router <sigh>.

    Hello,

I am experiencing a similar problem to The Thug in the Northcliff, Fairlands area. I get an HSDPA connection but no data will transfer, however if I use a standard 3G connection on the same device data will transfer without an issue. The problem arose at about the same time as The Thug (in a similar area), so it might be related.

When I use the device in Auckland Park it works perfectly with an HSDPA connection.

    Regards
