    Thumbs down Pathetic to useless

Yep, let me add my moan about how bad VC 3G has gotten.
Highveld, Centurion, 4 bars of HSDPA uselessness - even at this time of the morning.
Maybe shaped to shyte because ssh sessions are almost impossible, but that's not all, because other sites are also stuffed, this page took over 15 minutes to load and the speedtest from mybroadband is still not there.

Saddest is that I can no longer work from home, so it really defeats the purpose of having the connection.
Gonna have to try weasel out of this contract and get copper . . . or if I could just get fiber to the home, please anyone ??

FWIW, I have had some "luck" by disconnecting and re-connecting, seems you get better throughput "initially", but then slide down to buggerall the longer you stay connected.

Good luck to us all :-((

    Anyone else having issues?
As soon as you leave this are it is back to normal.
I have been moaning about this to VC for the past few months. Apparently there "is nothing they can do about it". I have cancelled my data contract with them (with no cancellation fee as they are not providing the service I am paying for). I basically have to walk around in the complex in order to make a phone call.

VC = pathetic! MTN and Cell C both have excellent coverage so it's clearly a VC issue.

    1) Location: Boksburg, Freewaypark
    2) Time of issue: For the past month
    3) Device: Vodafone Huawai K3565-Z and Nokia N8
    4) Contract Type (pre-paid, contract, hybrid): Pre-paid
    5) Existing reference numbers from 155: N/A
    6) speed.vodacom.co.za results (if possible):
    From speed.vodacom.co.za tested today 14:35
    Ping: 214ms
    Down speed: 563 kbps
    Up speed: 23 kbps

I'm constantly getting disconnects and everything is slow as you can see.
The worst is when using my cellphone, if I move to a certain position or a certain room I lose the signal completely. I've also experienced this with my modem when using my laptop.

Yep still trying as I've not gotten copper yet.
    Centurion, try speedtest.net . . .
    Ping 160, down = 0.03 Mbps, Up=0.30Mbps, 22:20 Mon 16 April 2012
Logged call with VC - no issues reported by anyone else <sigh> First call was dropped shortly after being answered. Second one was okay.

    Update: 22:31 - tried VC speedtest - amazing results, so why am I complaining . . .
    ping 132, down=2123kbps, up=363kbps

I am using a Huawei E367 Modem

Lines stolen or batling to get a good enough signal for phone calls and Internet. I can help provide me with your street add and I will let you know within 1 hour.

What's up with vodacom these days? Often I try to surf, and I have good HSPA+ signal, yet there is no throughput, and web pages simply don't load! Like just now, at 06:30, I might as well not have bothered, should have guessed vodacom was up to their tricks again

    Steynsrus 3G down.
Eskom had cut the power for the day, when it came back on, there was only edge.

    This is in Illovo, Joburg.

Vodacom has expired here, almost totally dead !

This is using a Huawei E367, and it has gradually declined over the last few months.

Steynsrus again, for the last couple of days 3G has been slow, unresponsive to the point where pages won't even load, it connects but nothing happens, occasionally it'll open a page. Neighbors and everyone else in my area is having the same problem.

Connecting on Edge however, things seem to be normal, problem is related to 3G only.

It's been 5 days now, and 3G is practically dead, can connect but nothing happens. It also doesn't auto switch to edge, what normally happens when 3G is down.

Already had a few people with the 2Gig promo data bundles contact me, because they couldn't get their internet banking done. So far I know of 5 people who has the exact same problem in the area, and they've tried contacting Vodacom call center with no results.
Some of them told me that the voice quality was also bad atm, although I'm not sure if it relates to this problem.

Been getting a few "you may need to activate your sim on this network first" errors too when searching for the network.

    edit: 6 days now.
