    BIS 2.7 is running.

    This is applicable to both http://mobileemail.vodafonesa.co.za/ - Vodacom & http://mtn.blackerry.com - MTN

If you have any Beta OS ie version 5.XX and up (ad-hoc) releases then they should work with nothing different compared to devices running version 4.XX & up.

Am currently running the version(testing) off one of the BB sites, there are some improvements on the Storm i.e the accelerometer e.t.c no problems thus far and obviously at your own risk.

Also found someone else from s.a having the same problem. Tought it may have been a BIS issue where it doesnt recognize the newer 5.0 versions?
    Hi

Did you install .216 or .230

Cool will try, you need to give me sometime as we share/abuse the BBS for testing e.t.c.

    Thanks

Installed os 5.0.0.230 on my bb. Do clean wipe of you phone before doing the update. follow these steps:

    STEP 1: BACK-UP DEVICE FULLY
    - connect your device to the computer, run desktop manager, and do a full back-up. Add something to the back-up (.ipd) file that reminds you this back-up is a pre-upgrade back-up.
    - NOTE: I only restore messages...personal preference. See restore step below

STEP 2: RUN JL_CDMER TO WIPE DEVICE
    - I suggest you follow this guide for instructions on this (it's what I did):

    http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-...l_cmder-53502/

STEP 3: LOAD O/S VIA DESKTOP MANAGER (edit: thanks @fismail for correcting me on this step)
    Goto Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\appLoader\
Before running Loader.exe delete the Vendor.xml file
Once that is deleted then run Loader.exe and follow the prompts to load the OS (you will NOT have to disconnect from the internet) when doing this.

STEP 4: TURN ON DEVICE/RADIO, RE-ACTIVATE WITH BES
    - My BES typically stores some settings, so I let this occur completely

STEP 5: RESTORE MESSAGES/APPS/ETC. VIA DESKTOP MANAGER
    - I go to "BACKUP/RESTORE" option and choose "ADVANCED". I only restore messages so I have copies of e-mails that won't be resent by BES. All other PIM data is restored via activation, and I prefer to reinstall applications.

STEP 6: REINSTALL OTA APPLICATIONS AS NEEDED
    - hey, why not enjoy your Rev. A device and the speed of installing software!

FINAL NOTES: GIVE THE DEVICE A FULL DAY TO "NORMALIZE"
    - it just seems that the device takes some time to get normal. After an upgrade, you may have a lag here and there, but unless the device is completely locking up, or unusable, don't worry - it will work itself out. That's what the forum is for..

Step 3 should be the following ...

FWIW (for what it's worth) version 5.0.0.238 works pretty well on the Curve 8900 but one does not have the option of turning off Sms History / Threaded SMS and for that purpose alone to downgrade I would recommended version 4.6.1.250 for the Curve 8900

    - Click on Application Loader
    - Choose Update Software
    - NOTE: If you are connected to the internet, you'll get two choices, the "preferred" choice is the base O/S, do not select this option. Even better, don't have your computer connected to the internet. This step may confuse you, but just make sure you select the "LOCAL" device software on your computer. This is the version that you have modified and shrunk

here is the only link i foundwiht info about .230 for the storm http://crackberry.com/leaked-actual-...rry-storm-9530

Most i could find about .230 looks like hybrids of .191 and .230. Looks like you a bit out of luck on the full .230 for storm.

link to .191(full/no hybrid) for storm here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VNZWTXRB
