Thread: Data rate drop after opening ports?

Default Data rate drop after opening ports?

    Dear neotel rep,

I have had all my ports opened say about 2 weeks ago. Since the day they have opened, my connection has gone from 1200kbps to 600kbps. I since then went onto my roof again with the laptop, and fine tuned my external antenna, and i am getting a strong signal of -66dbi on my AXESSTEL software.

However, my connection has steadily gotten even worse. Sunday i was hovering at 300kps? Is thier issues with towers in my area? (Edenvale, Sebenza)

How can i decrease in speed, after increasing signal quality? Or did opening the ports have some effect on my account?

Opened ports should NOT have any effect on your account. (Except decreasing your security, but that's another matter).

Bottom line is - you should be able to have as many ports open as you would like without seeing any serious decrease in speed (unless you open those ports specifically for world+dog to use (eg peer 2 peer, file transfers, etc).

There's other people with serious Neotel speed issues on this forum, you're not the only one.

Yes, i opened the ports actually to see if it would improve my World of Warcraft game play, and to be able to host DoTa games in Warcraft 3 (Seeing as Neoflex has the nice upload speeds, its perfect for hosting).

I dont torrent much, maybe a patch here or their, main usage is gaming.

How about starting something like a neotel action group that can pool resources for such a suit. I would be glad to use the money I was going to pay them for their device to help such an effort.

I just need to get some free time to speak to an Attorney 1st.
I should hopefully be seeing one at a club event this Sunday.
