Validity of Cap
OK I understand Telkom's cap 3 gb to eliminate hogs.. right...
what i dont under stand is if i purchase a 1000mb data bundle from mtn is at the end of the month when I have only used 500mb do they disappear..
because they are paid for why would you not let you customer's keep them of at least roll them for a month or 2 ?
What is the reason.. ?

IMHO - It's just a ripoff scheme. If the cap was really there to eliminate hogs, then how come a hog can buy more ? And you're right, you paid for 3GB, and then they steal it from you if you don't use it. That's theft.
Maybe I should take the telkom reference out.
My question was directed at the pay per data plans(ie MTN), not the flat rate plans..
I think it should be like free minutes or prepaid when you have bough the units and then use them in you own time.. within a 3 month or 6 month window. ?

Yeah, it's BS, so just make sure you use all your MB's then!
When we had ADSL in the office (and soon at home!!), I used to download at full speed on the last couple of days of the month. I made sure that I got what I paid for.
I also think that they should let it roll over to the next month.
Agreed, I use my data up to the last byte, would be good if the service providers, both MTN and Vodacom would let us roll over megs or even alow us to pre purchase megs for use ofver 3 ,6,9 months.
I can garantee that more people would use this facility then, we all want the bang for the buck.
we score because we get reliable connection and the service providers score because their towers are used more optimaly, before GPRS they were loosing out because of time slots not being used.
