Okay, I've just spent the better part of a hour reading through the longest e-mail I've ever received.

Basically contains chatter to and from 10000000 Neotel staff regarding our issues

Hugo and I have been in contact and I've been giving the guy grief regarding the issues we all have.

Let's just get to the point of the post (I'm typing this at a client)...

Neotel are working very hard to resolve the issues, they know about all the issues, they are pushing each other to get to the issues resolved, and I am now going to be a bit more patient with Hugo / Neotel because if you guys could see the e-mail I got, well, you'd be more patient.

I can't go into more detail, but suffice to say, I don't think THAT bad of Neotel anymore... I still want my 100KB/s all day and not half the day, but they are working on it.

And in other news, Telkom installed my business line (finally), and DigiChilli has just given me an uncapped account to trial.

EDIT:
OK but seriously, Neotel need to roll out wired infrastructure, like copper or fibre. I don't think I can ever go back to wireless again, after switching my home connectivity from iBurst to ADSL. They really really suck quite terrible, on almost every front. Technology-wise (CDMA? C'mon!), and also in terms of coverage, support, billing. It seems they've also managed to stuff up the transit of SEACOM bandwidth from KZN to Gauteng.

How much longer must we wait?

While it is a good thing that Neotel seems to be addressing some of the issues(according to some of the recent comments), I think that too many people are frustrated after months of problems. The kind of promises coming through now are the exact same kind of promises I heard a year ago. I apologize if I am judging to harshly, and I do wish the people staying with neotel the best of luck. Hopefully they can become good competition in the current internet market, but I think they still have a very long road ahead of them before that becomes a reality.

well... considering how often the damn thing disconnects and reconnects.... how on earth will they resolve this? I for one think its this crappy phone device they've supplied! it looks, feels, and behaves like cheap junk!

I honestly hope Neotel pulls their socks up because alot of people are still hoping for a cheaper and better alternative to Telkom, however once LLU becomes a reality, they are in for a serious hiding!

Neotel should never have pushed these hand-sets to people who didnt want a phone device and uncapped!... They should have given a router unit with cheap uncapped LONG ago!, and the way the prices are falling from other providers leave much to be desired from Neotel! I for one have the Lite service, I expected atleast 16kb/s to 18kb/s, but only achieve this 40% of the times, its more like 11kb/s!

I Can't care about all the bundled minutes and sms's - fact is, the phone device is hidden behind my monitors - don't want to see it, don't want to know its there, but unfortunately I often have to resort to pulling out the USB cable, reset the device to get things working (at worse reset my pc which happens 10% of the time)

For now, I'm heading back to DSL. I'm planning to throw out my Neotel device as scrap soon afterwards because I don't think much of it at this point! - Just don't want that thing in my house any longer!

From what you say - I will keep my finger on the Neotel issue, and if by some small or large miracle they answer many people's prayers, and improve, I'll gladly get back on board!

points from my side which I'd expect:

1. Atleast a 4 port Router device that does all the connection rules without dialup rules on your pc! - Pref. a Netgear lookalike or Netgear - Hauwei (however you spell it) is dreadful!
2. Choice to pay for the device once off, and not get locked into a contract of sort!
3. Uncapped options rivaling other DSL providers, on a single device upgradable or down-gradable like the DSL options depending on the User's budget!
4. no shaping!, not during the day, or anything - Full speed, all the time!
5. (not sure here) No port blocking, leave it alone, let the user enable/disable the ports he/she wants to!

I will mention that they have noticed the increase in cancellations, they want to stop it, and are trying their best.

Aah yes, when the company loses too many customers and it impacts on their making money, then they're hard at work behind the scenes ..... too little, much too late

They are acting reactively rather than pro-actively. If they had put in the effort from the start, we'd be in a different situation.

I can't see myself going back to them after my recent positive experience on ADSL with Afrihost and now DigiChilli. I'm a calmer, happier, better person after having cancelled our Prime account. I still get angry thinking about the hours trying to resolve connectivity issues with Neotel.

It would take a LOT to convince me back again... (on wireless it would have to be WIMAX uncapped at a lower cost than Digichilli to compensate for the higher latency of wireless).

Until that day, no more Neotel for me.

True, but at least they doing something...

Remember, Vodacom, MTN etc were also at this point that Neotel is at... Neotel is just being attacked more because Neotel was supposed to be our saviour... remember?!?

Well, Neotel needs to WOW people and very soon, their current antics, price and shoddy quality of service is going to be the end of them! I do hope they are serious and not just talking the talk with you! - RPM also had that talk with them, and that what how long ago?... and nothing came of it!
