neotel is monitoring user downloading speed!

every time I started a thread to download, the speed was fine, after a period of time, the line disconnected automatically. And after reconnected, the thread would be slower than before. But if started a new thread, the speed was fine for the new thread. In the other word, neotel did not monitor individual speed but a single thread download time and speed!

and you cannot have more than three downloading threads in the same time, some of the downloads will be restricted or becoming very slow.

Dump Neotel. All I ever hear is complaints for you Neotel users. Vote with your money and feet. Even iWorst is better than NeoFail.

Some advice
1. Change your location, this is the real world
2. Spend some more time on our forums

Now that I have utterly exhausted myself with that deep and profound message. Neotel hasnt got a usage meter up yet you expect them to have the goodies to throttle? If that was the case then all the Prime unlimited users would have had a little thread all to themselves.

But you have, whats this favourite word you guys all love to drop, ah yes, "congestion" which boils down to the same thing as a throttle.

I don't know what kind of software you are using but it is definitely throttling the speed!

it happened since july this year, after I changed my downloading software, the speed will be getting better. After using the same software a period of time, the speed will be restricted to the lower speed. How do you explain for this? Or changing the port, it will be better as well, how do you explain for this? [Only downloading with no restriction is the “browser”]

Neotel is a liar!

PS: you said you will respond our emails we sent you, but also it is not happening to me!

Work for Neotel? Take your head out of the clouds..eeew Anyway I use Vuze as a client and dont get briliant speeds on my flex..It's dependant on time of day mostly. What are you using? What do you mean by thread?

If you share some of the guys on the forum might be able to help.

Back to the castle I guess

Just a note on this. I, more often than not, can only stream videos etc and download files at no more than 35Kb/s. There are occasions where it jumps up to 100Kb/s - 120Kb/s but this is probably 5% of the time in a month.

So how something like my situation occurs I have no idea.

@Hugo
Before your arrival I fought with Neotel to sort this problem out. I had a technician visit my place 10-12 times (he also told me he is THE only call-out techie in Cape Town).

It then got to a point where I was promised a Senior technician would come to my place. I had someone come to my place BUT he was not a senior technician. He even admitted to knowing less than what the initial technician that came to my house numerous times. And on all of the sites and test downloads he did with me, only ONE site resulted in more than 35Kb/s (115Kb/s) and that was a direct Neotel FTP server.

If there are no throttling capabilities then I should be getting more than 100Kb/s all the time instead of 5% of the time.

P.S. I gave up my fight. No one seems to give 2c's about sorting my problem out.

If that was Marius then correct, and not sure why someone made an even bigger fool to think that they would sort it out.

I know this we do not have throttling capabilities!!!

Tell you what, PM your number to me, and we'll tlk in the morning.
See if there's something else missing that we can identify...

Torrents

@ Dreamking,

What do you get on normal downloads through your internet client? Was just thinking about that. My speeds vary quite abit on Vuze with my torrents - but with torrents being reliant on seeds & peers its going to be very difficult to establish what the cause is of your variation in speed.

normal: 1Mb/s
slow: 200kb/s or lower
not stable: disconnect often when higher speed
stable: when lower speed
seeds health enough!

any questions?
