Default 101 Needed on Jailbreak to OS 3.1.2

    Yo Guys

I have a local stock (using my MTN sim) iPhone 3G 8GB with OS 3.

OS3 was very straightforward to jailbreak with redsn0w,to update to OS 3.1.2 ,I need to use blackra1n...

I want to know what is the easiest way of jailbreak to OS 3.2.1?

Can I just download the latest firmware with from iTunes or from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ and then update my phone, then finally jailbreak with blackra1n with the following tut;http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=5527

Will I lose all my Cydia apps when I update to OS 3.2.1

Are you guys installing Cydia,Rock or Icy or all of them?

    Is OS 3.2.1 rock solid...

    Thanks

Yes you can upgrade and run blackra1n to jailbreak as you have a factory unlocked iPhone bought here. Blackra1n doesn't "hacktivate" last time I checked, so if you don't have an officially unlcoked iPhone then you will be stuck at the activation screen.

I haven't bothered myself to upgrade to 3.1.2 as 3.1. is stable enough for me, so I wouldn't be able to comment on the stability of the new firmware. But it is not a major firmware upgrade/revision so it should be fine.

I've got Cydia myself, haven't given Rock a try myself. Tried Icy a while ago and didn't like it too much. They say Rock is quicker, but Cydia is fine for me as it is on my 3GS.

If you want to backup your Cydia apps, try aptbackup.

OK I think you jailbreaked it but still have to unlock it. Not sure.

@FiestaST there is a Cydia app for backing up your Cydia apps. Not sure what it's called but I saw it there. If you search for backup you will find it.

I think you launch blackrain from within the iPhone and it gives you an option to unlock. People were giving you advice on another thread too

Thanks guys,so far I have download the OS 3.21 firmware to update my iPod Touch 2G.
Updated the firmware, installed blackra1n,jailbreak done with button!

    Very impressive...

Choose to install Cydia only, all the "free" apps were not working so (as to be expected),got AppSync for OS 3.1.2 and all the "free" apps are recognised by iTunes so working perfectly...

Even NFS Shift which would not go past the slash screen with OS 3 is loading now & playing great...

I just need to download the .ipsw firmware for my iPhone 3G (when I can get some spare some cap) and I will be good to you...

Whole process is much more easier than it was with jailbreak OS 3 with redsn0w...

All in all very impressed, how effortless it was...

When I go to blackra1n.com and try download Blackra1n RC3 I get asked for a username and password. I am in the UAE using a proxy based in Texas. Any ideas? Google helps not at all.

Got the 3.1.2 ipsw for my iPhone 3G and updated, ran blackra1n and was good to go...only issue was all my Cydia apps where gone, the aptbackup app did not do its job...

Other than that minor glitch...smooth sailing...

Hardly see any diff with 3.1.2 vs 3.0,so far,if I am honest, but always good to have the latest release...
