It does not have a CD or DVD ROM, that is why you saw the enclosure, it has four USB ports so the media would be added that way.
Let me give you a quick, easy to understand crash course thin clients: You own a call centre with 20 cubicles, everybody only needs to work off and access one database on a server. Each person don't need a computer, they just need a window to the server and a input device (keyboard, mouse). You save money as thin clients are cheaper than a normal PC. Most thin clients are very limited so your staff won't be able to connect to the net or use timewasting services like Facebook even with a proxy.
Another example: You own a shop with 5 tills, each cashier must use the same stock table otherwise your stock totals will be screwed up. Do you buy each one a computer or just each one a cheap thin client?
