Please could we have it that any post that is a reply to a thread where the previous post is year + older has to be approved by a mod.

This thread necromancy is getting really ridiculous.

Surely use of the search function should be encouraged? If someone finds an old thread that interests them surely it is better to post a response than start a new one.

I think it would be a great idea is the system automatically closed old threads. I see a few 2005 threads have been revived. If no post have been made for say 6 months the thread should be closed.

I'm all for this idea. I know that vBulletin has add-ons available that enable this to happen automagically - RPM, what do you say?

I know there is an (understandable imo) reluctance to use add-on's because of potential stability issues.
