MS has been tightening the screws here... you can no longer buy a DSP version without a fully built computer (according to MS dictate), and the prices for Windows 7 are more expensive than what XP ever used to be. All of that is going to result in more piracy.
The only way to fight piracy is to make your product cheap and widely available.

Also microsoft should expect high piracy ins countries like russia, china etc. Nobody has the money to pay for their goods. Also it is not like microsoft is not making billions and billions in profit so what is the big deal?
