What are your thoughts on this screen? I've used 3 and all had rather dim back lights at 100% brightness with eco modes and movie mode disabled. My plasma has got to be a lot brighter. Strange.

I bought the Sony 32CX520 FHD for R4000.00, they were going at R4500 at the time and they were even cheaper on specials thereafter.

For a strong reliance on SD quality, you can't beat a 43" HD Ready plasma (+-R5,000). A Logik 50" Full HD plasma at R6k offers helluva good bang for buck, but won't display SD as well. So if you're able to get an HDMI extender, definitely look at the Logik as well as the 10" smaller 40" big brand LCDs/LED backlit LCDs around the R6k mark, if size is an issue. If you're able to up to R9k, I'd recommend going the brand route, rather look at a Samsung 51" FHD 3D plasma which comes with a 2 year warranty now I believe. You're still getting top value for money, and they're very well rated. (PS51D550 and PS51E550 are the models)

Not sure I'd trust this, often these no names are "Full HD Ready".

I'd take this image on a flashdrive to verify proper 1080p (preferably from a Bluray player via HDMI) ... http://www.tigerdave.com/images/test...0_overscan.gif

Logic is the Home Brand for Game. So its fine as it will have full Wallmart backing.

For Proof see the Logik website and click on "where to buy"

    http://www.dothesameforless.com/default/stores

It comes with much longer warrantees than Fully Branded Stuff.

Sinotec also has a 5 year warranty (I have one), and look how they are regarded. Not great and second choice. People want quality over warranty otherwise they'd all be buying cheapies. There is a reason they are cheap, because they cannot compete. Not to mention Samsungs now have a two year warranty.

To suggest Logik must be good because Walmart owns a large share of Massmart, is a fallacious straw-man argument that makes no sense.

It's not fine if it's advertised as Full HD when it's not natively 1920x1080. Many of these "too good to be true" sets are exactly that. Thanks for reminding us, Roman.

More buy cheapies than not. Quality is given on a home brand, price is the factor for volume. Exactly what is/are your qualifications PP? If Game/Logik, Pick&Pay/NoName etc. makes false claims take them to the Consumer Council, Advertising Standards Authority etc. - They do work quite well in SA.
