Leek, speeds used to be way above 2mb/s even during the day (go check on the 2Mb modem thread and on the Speedtest results thread, there are loads of results I posted). Used to regularly see over 2.2Mb/s right through the day and at night speeds would hover around 2.4 or so. During storms speeds would be just under 2Mb/s as well. All round I was very very happy with the speed. Note: was.

And that was with the modem on my study windowsill with no external antenna fitted.

Ever since the new packages were released, speeds dropped to below 0.3Mb/s even after midnight. Simple case of massively overloaded towers as shown to me by the Techs who fitted the antenna and did testing of towers in the area.

Melanie arranged for a flat panel antenna to be fitted after I moaned for months about the speed issue and it is on a 3 metre high pole above our house roof. Speeds did improve from the crappy 0.3Mb/s and less, to around 1Mb/s, still half of what it used to be. But it has gone south once more and nothing gets done about our complaints, sadly.

Overloaded towers in this area are the sole problem here. I don't know what iBurst is doing about it, but that is not my problem. We just want want we pay for. I even suggested at one stage that they could have a corner of our property to put up a tower, but nothing even came of that.

Edited to add the latest "Speed"test result:

I agree with all of you that the day time speeds are not what they should be. Overloaded towers is most probably the issue here and I agree this needs to be looked at and upgraded. Bursty which tower/towers are in your area that you use? Other PTA users? Which towers? Maybe the issues are around a single area?

In the past day or two there has been a tower out but it seemed better last night.

    Tower BSCC 19.
Sitting with 100% almost permanently, but sometimes it drops to 95/96% then pops back to 100.

Generally I my only issues are where there are definite faults on iburst side. My pc runs on XP and I have it tweaked as best I can. Currently streaming music and browsing web and have an online game running. I suggest if not already done to install Drtcp from here www.dslreports.com/drtcp and take note of the settings it displays, these are what I have, try them and see if any improvement.
Tcp rcv window 54560 path mtu Yes
wind scaling yes black hole no
time stamp no max dup acks 2
    selecitve ack yest ttl 64
    dial ras (empty)
adapter.. (what you connect with) MTU 1392

there are lots of other tweaks and tools on that site such as www.dslreports.com/tweaks and those on the menu of that page
Give me cheaper prices, not valued added packages.

Would like to use eyeBurst to do some checking there, but I can't download the JRE with my current connection at home! Not that I want anything Java related on my PC. I hate Java. Ever since tutoring it for 4 years.

@DsBalsak: Mountain View tower off? Nooo, I got on the roof to raise my omni by a meter for nothing? Geen wonder ek LAG so baie op Inferno nie! Signal fluctuation, and when stable between 90 and 100%, still error frame rate fluctuates. Hate that my Telkom line was stolen.

    What a joke. Again.
iBurst, sort this out ASAP please. Why are we still paying full price for an obviously sub-standard service?

In my opinion, this ISP should cut everyone's monthly installments in half and back date them to November last year when all this crap started. "No known problems" my left nut, fix this pathetic speed issue for once and for all so we can stop moaning.

This thread is basically 188 pages of complaints, just like the iBurst Facebook page

Extremely frustrating trying to farm Inferno with 2 Barbarians when one lags with his iBurst connection...
DsBalsak, where did you hear the news about Mountain View tower? Is that for realz?
