haha... sorry to toot my own horn again... but I predicted this necessity about a year ago already.

In fact I would not be surprised if Telkom is a regular Seacom customer. They would be crazy not to.

He's been predicting that we'd get bumped up to 8mbps for the last 3 years or so.

    Exclamation

It's a really poor showing when the Great Telkom has to lease extra capacity (or redundancy?) from another independent cable just to meet the international requirements for the event.

And this even with the 3x speed increase the SAT-3 system received last year.

What would have happened if SEACOM did not exist yet?

    ....Goooooooo Telkom!

Telkom and Neotel(TATA) struck a deal? Aren't they supposed to be competition to one another?
Hope no price collusion come from this..

Not easy on SEACOM as it is an open access system with many players getting the same wholesale prices (or at least for the same capacities). No consortium which controls pricing and the like...

Am I the only one that finds this article incredibly funny and ironic?

I was having a good chuckle when reading through it.

Oh how times have changed, telkom having to buy bandwith from it's undersea cable competitor.
What to put here, that's the question.
