    Hey neio - contextualise a bit for the non-Afrikaans speakers. Direct translation would be 'she puts a skip in my cudgel' which wouldn't make much sense. I can think of quite a few contextual interpretations, but leave it to you to elaborate *chuckle*

    Dit maak niks sin nie. Ek weet wat dit beteken maar dit maak nie sin nie. 'n Knuppel kan nie 'n huppel hê nie. 'n Stappie kan...

    One of my favourite Afrikaans expressions is: "Vroeg ryp, vroeg vrot". (Disclaimer, I'm English)

    I must admit that most afrikaans sayings are pretty funny & often very true, when I understand them that is.

    neio!

    It is not a wasted thread at all... I know the phrase. Have heard it many times. But technically speaking it doesn't make sense... It is one of the best... agreed...

    @Antowan
    /me thinks that would translate as :

    "She puts a hop in my knob"

    Still getting lost in translation, huppel in Afrikaans has got a more perky/cheeky connotation.
