Question Neoflex - Poor Signal - aerial recommendation needed

    Hey MYBB

We moved to DSL at the office, and I've taken the Neoflex 10G device to my home for access.

I can connect and surf on it (VERY SLOW - due to distance from tower) and I need a way to boost or receive the signal better.

There is a device I see works with Neotel (prime only?) and would like to know if it will work with the Neoflex device :

If that is not suitable can anyone recommend a device/ aerial?

    Thanks

    Hi PC Direct

I would recommend this one http://www.poyntingdirect.co.za/Prod...tid=K-YAGI-NEO as it is specifically sold for Neotel units.

It is cheaper and has a higher dbi gain.

My 2c worth I have Neotel prime my connection was disgustingly slow after nearly 2 months of bitching the installed the recommended external antenna. Guess what, besides having a strong signal metered on my device nothing much has changed. I certainly would not invest another cent with these Bozos in fact I am considering giving up Neotel paying termination charges they wish to extort and rather get raped by another operator, at least I may get a little bit more from experience than I would from Neotel.

No remove the stubby antenna and connect the external antenna onto the stubby terminal on your phone.

    Hey,

Just some FYI, Neotel is having overpopulation issues around JHB. If thats where u from, getting an external antenna won't make a difference right now. If you willing to wait 2 weeks, when their new tower is up, think about it then.

From my experience, don't exhaust all possibilities that you can do, until u know its not Neotel thats at fault.

Pethadine, just want to elaborate on your statement, before somone misunderstands it.

Alot of new towers are going up, and if i'm looking at your estimated time period of when you posted this (today), then you're refering to Bedfordview/Kensington area.
This is our most congested area, and within 2 to 2.5 weeks the new tower will be operational, alleviating some of the congestion.

I have been bitching and moaning about the poor download speed with a Neotel external aerial. (avg 150 kb/s). This afternoon I decided to take matters into my own hands and turned the aerial by about 5 deg at a time until I got the strongest signal about 90deg all in all. I am now getting downloads of between 700 to 1200 kb/s. Moral of the story don't believe the techie who installs your aerial, verify the facts for yourself.

I have an aerial from Neotel and it did solve the problem of disconnecting and the service hiccups but my speeds are still so sllooooooooooooow, no solution on that front
