We sometimes come accross some really wierd nicks/handles but do your'll ever stop and wonder how the person got to that name??

like mine is CEMT...people think it means cement but its an abbreviation for a company I had long ago...Cutting Edge Media Technologies...

I used to play MUDs, and got particularly involved in role-play. Raithlin was the name of my deepest and most successful character - an elven Cleric in Realms of Despair.

Actually, the real reason is that my nick from 1996 used to be bushboy.
It was changed from my offline band nickname - boskop, the drummer who was afrikaans called me that because I had a ton of long hair and smoked a lot of doob at the time (1994/5)
He was called "snotkop" because he always had a cold and the lead guitarist was called Vetkop - don't need to explain that one
When I first went online, I got sick of americans calling me "bosco" and Bushhead wasn't very catchy, so I became bushboy.

I kept that nick until 2001 and until I got tired of people asking if I liked the band Bush (which I don't) or if I was a Bush supporter (which I'm not)

People also used to call me bb for short.

So, I reluctantly changed my nick to bb_matt, to at least keep part of the old name.

I'm the kinda person who dislikes fickle changes, but my new nick works ok.

When I first joined IRC in 1996, I didn't know what to call myself.

I called myself Dolby because at the point I was really interested my audio, and Dolby Pro Logic was the 1st thing I saw in the room.

Everyone got to know it, and I'm still Dolby
