I've had problems with Vodacom network in general, where there is no DATA coverage at all just has GSM - when you contact the data support they are unable to help you. Just go to options mobile network disable gps data and enable, reboot handset etc.

Did you check if vodacom have deducted the amount - plus did you confirm and receive an SMS that BIS will be activated shortly - also make sure your handset aint registered with another carrier like MTN.

This happens a lot lately with Blackberry BIS. It's taking at least 15mins and upwards, sometimes over an hour or two before the BIS kicks in on the network. Best way to check if it is working is switch the phone off, REMOVE THE BATTERY and then restart the phone. Sometimes just restarting the phone without removing the battery doesn't do anything. Inversely sometimes even though the phone shows GPRS coverage, it still might not work. To confirm select "Manage Connections" and go to "Service Status" and make sure it says "Mobile Network" under "Blackberry Internet Service". If it doesn't...PULL THE BATTERY! Hope this helps.

RichardG see my reply in the other thread as to why you see gsm.
Battery pull is the best advice (it solves nearly any problem). If that fails then it's up to Vodacom.
