    Default MyCall Extend?

    MTNBB,

What is MyCall Extend? I see from the Sunday Tribune that this is offered as a R67 / month contract. The call center guys (1808) know nothing about this package.....

What does this include? Is this purely a sim card that one can bundle a 100Mb bundle onto. Therefore I pay R167 for 100Mb ie. R1.67 / Mb and then R1.50 /Mb thereafter?

    HotDog,

I phoned MTN about this and the consultant said this HAD been "removed" for a while. Then she transferred me to another consultant and I got cut off .... AGAIN!!!

Perhaps MTNbb could answer what the help lines cannot ...

    WHERE are the "sweet spots"??
We are too busy mopping the floor to turn off the taps ...

    Default MTNSP service desk help!

Wow, just had a wonderful Customer Service experience with MTNSP! Thanks Gareth Wepenaar (sp?) Must admit, the guy didn't know much about the MyCall Extend, but he also saw the advert in the Sunday papers and went out of his way to find out more.

Apparently it is possible to get the contract for R67/month and add the 100Mb data bundle to it. So now all I need to do is aim to use more than 100Mb so that my rate comes down to R1.50 / Mb

My question is to MTNH and MTNBB: The Novatel data card does not support EDGE. Isn't this quite ironic considering that MTN has punted EDGE all along?

Is there a possibility of getting an EDGE card with the MyCall Extend contract. (Sierra Wireless or SE) It's well documented in this Forum that PMB will take a while to get 3G and will get EDGE much sooner, so it makes more sense for me to get an EDGE enabled card.

This is basically part of what I am asking on another thread( Novatel U630 Merlin Query)but have had limited joy so far. I was under the impression it bumped you down to Edge if 3G was down , but now I guess that it means it bumps down to GPRS ?

I checked the spec on the Novatel card and it doesn't seem to support EDGE, so you get 3G or GPRS, no EDGE inbetween.

We have tried every supplier we know about getting a combined 3G/EDGE card and there is not one to be found! Qualcom is the main chipset supplier and once they produce the combined chipset we will see a range of solutions but that is later this year. Nothing MTN can do about that! I do think the Nokia 6680 with a bluetooth connection is a good alternative because that does offer 3G and EDGE and you have a phone into the deal.

But I suppose I cannot get the 6680 on the MyCall Extend contract right? Or am I wrong? Why not have the Sierra Wireless / Sony Ericsson EDGE cards as options for the MyCall Extend? MTNHandsets, your input?
