Thread: Legal Age of Consent in the Vatican

  1. #1

Default Legal Age of Consent in the Vatican

"There are no criminal laws against same-sex sexual activity. There is an equal age of consent set at 12 years of age since 1929, when the Vatican City introduce the same law as the Codice Penale from Italy. When there is a relationship of dependence (like teacher/student) the age of consent is at 15 years."

If the Roman Catholic church is so anti sex-before-marriage why is their equal age of consent set at 12 years of age? Why is it alright for a 15 year old to have sexual relations with an older person? Surely this is hypocrisy?

Don't know enough about the Vatican to comment.
The theoretical capacity of a Boeing 747 filled with Blu-ray Discs is 595,520,000 Gigabytes, resulting in a 245,829 Gbit/s flight from New York to Los Angeles.

I actually stumbled across this interesting fact in a forum & I Googled, "Vatican age of consent"

Believe me, I wasn't looking for gay/lesbian rights in the Vatican.

I'm presuming it has something to do with the state and the church being separate. Just a hunch. In England the Law states people as young as 12 can have sexual relations with people no older or younger than 2 years. The church of England however holds a much different view!

I have often found that when individual snippets of rules/laws are taken from one system and plugged into another, absurdity is more often than not the result. It's like using polar co-ordinates in a Cartesian system.

    Awesome find Flatspin.

Now I has more ammo for some Vatican lovers bashing this weekend.
