This from an earlier post is right:
Use a samsat (not the Ellies one!) 2 way splitter with dc power passthrough (5 - 2400mhz). Normally only one of the connectors can pass power. Satellite cable into "powered" out-connector on splitter, and into the Satcr connector on the pvr. The second cable into the other out-connector on the splitter, and into the other connector on the pvr.
I had my 2nd lnb connector damaged using the Ellies splitter because it passed power to it. Needed to swap it out at Multichoice and I now use the Samsat splitter.
Perfect did it last night worked like a charm, however this morning when i switched the decorder on and tried viewing the TV guide it is blank any suggestions?(last night was able to view the full tv guide), and there was three bars below the selected channel, now this morning it is back to two bars showing the programming
ja i have resolved to leave it until i have the resources to install that twin lnb. i can live without the guide. as long as i gaze upon sport in glorious 'HD'. until after the olympics that is.
i was about to buy the splitter but i realised i would just be adding the same feed twice.
where does one buy those coaxial cables?
am admittedly too lazy to read through all twenty pages of the thread..
I recently changed to PVR 2P so as to get HD. But without activating PVR, because I'm still happy using my old LG RH7624 to record programs in advance, or use its "timeshift" to pause, rewind, etc. With the bonus of being able to copy recorded programs to DVD. I'll eventually probably break down and pay the R65 pm, because of course I don't have HD when using the LG, although I still have 16:9.
Thanks to this thread (huge thanks guys!) I have also been able to postpone upgrading my old single LNB. I used the Samsat splitter, added the additional network configs and got everything I wanted: HD and 16:9 where applicable, and the full 8-day online schedule.
But the reason for this post is Monday's upgrade (1 October). Despite the news story I read about a single LNB being no good and a rush of subscribers to upgrade to twin LNB, my viewing remains almost perfect. I can only find a problem with two of the HD movie channels - 105 and 108. With those two I get neither picture nor sound, followed by a error message saying to check my cable connection.
I can almost certainly live without those two channels if it's because my installation is now at its limit, but does anyone have any fix?
Will this work with an SD PVR?
Hey Abzo, hope you don't mind, I'll just reply here cos QT knows more than me so he can chip in.
I'm not really sure about the SDPVR cos it also has an internal multiswitch which splits the 2 inputs into 3 tuners, so I think you would have more issues with it.
Additionally you have DOD & BO recording in the background, not sure which polarity this uses, QT?
