Thread: Announcement from Web Africa

  1. #1

    Default Announcement from Web Africa

    For immediate release --

21 July 2005 - Web Africa is pleased to announce the following promotional pricing on ADSL 30GB exclusive to MyADSL viewers only:

    30GB ADSL for R199pm (incl)
    Promotional Code: MY459183 (expires 31/10/05)

Available immediately through our online ordering system.

We are excited and challenged by our competitors and a highly informed and discerning MyADSL readership. We also believe in maintaining our traditional levels of customer service and support and thus will not be lowering our standard pricing in the current environment.

    Fine print:
    - This promotion may not be used in conjunction with any other
promotion or our regular "50% off from the 15th of the month discount."
    - This promotion is valid until 31 October 2005.
    - ADSL accounts run from 1st to 31st of the month
    - Maximum 3 discounted accounts per client
    - Applies only to the ADSL 30GB shaped service

    --Update 30 September 2005--

Will you be changing your prices for November?
It is not clear at this stage.

    Why can't you release pricing?
Because there is a likelyhood that we may preserve current pricing.

Will the MyADSL special continue if your regular prices don't change?
Possibly. Or there may be a new special.

When wil I be informed of this?
As soon as we have clarity.

Will I automatically be billed for November if the prices change?
    No.

Will you be price competitive with the other ISPs?
    Agressively so.

What are you doing for the consumer?
We are in still in meetings daily regarding the situation. We have already pursued a few avenues (litigation, ICASA, ISPA, alternate suppliers).

    What about the 30day notice?
Web Africa does not require 30 day notice on any ADSL products. Notice must be given before end of each month should you wish to cancel. This may be done online (client area), via email or telephone. One caveat: Debit orders are prepared around the 25th thus if you cancel after that and you on debit order you will be refunded.

How does a Monthly billing work?
You are billed every month until you cancel. You do not need to request a service each month.

What if I want it just for one month?
Order and cancel anytime during the month. You account will be cancelled but still still active until the end of the month.

R650 for 384K ADSL from the 1st of Aug will be less.

    R199 + R370 = R569 incl

[EDIT} Trust me I have 512K speed now and 384K and 512K is almost the same 512k is not worth the extra.

    Nice one Wamatt !

    Slimothy, right now, R87 line rental + R449.00 ADSL rental + R199 web africa = R735

    That's for DSL384 - it's not worth going 192 or 512.

    Total : R735

From August, I believe the ADSL rental will be going down to R379 ? - can't be arsed finding the figures, but it's something like that.

So then it will be : R665

To clarify, will the price revert back to what it is now after this date? Or does the offer merely end then?

Well the offer ends then but it will revert to the pricing in the future (it may be same or may not be). You may also cancel at any time. However naturally we will want to be competitive and may either have new pricing or possibly other promotions (within moderation ;p)

At the same time these crazy prices I don't think are going to be permanent for those of you considering switching from wireless etc to ADSL.

Holy crap, tears of joy and jubilation. I'm getting a 30GB account, screw this 3GB crap now. From the 1st of August I'm with Web Africa... unless somebody else makes it even cheaper, muahahaha.
