Strange one that, seems you didn't know... Anyway... Personally I think there should be automatic promotion relegation every season for the winner of the first division and last place of the premier division, works well in football. Everyone knows where they stand at the start of the season, so there's no crying after the fact.

I would be 110% for that.... If you can beat the worst team of the higher league, you deserve to take their place....

If I was Saru, I would just create another type of Super Competition...one where maybe even the islanders and argentine clubs can play in.... Its a whole new income generator... Or maybe even a Super Rugby 1st Division, where the likes of the Kings and Griquas, lower rated Aussie and NZ teams, can battle it out to play against the lowest teams in the Super Rugby Prem Div

They want a so called pay off because they couldn't lure any quality players down to PE even with huge financial backing. Its understandable as its like Swindon Town trying to lure Messi or top European players to them without realizing after a couple of month of Super Rugby its playing in devision 1 of the Currie Cup and playing games on gravel pitches and half dark stadiums

I guess its pretty much like that. Tho in the case of Swindon Town, there is no playoff with a premier league club for promotion, since everyone accepts that it would be impossible to attract premier league talent to the first division no matter how much cash they have, however once promoted there is at least a chance.

Oh, and finally, have you seen the NMB stadium? Besides being the only of the new world cup stadiums to actually be generating a profit it really is stunning.

So I guess its nothing like that then

Um are they going to play every game in the Currie Cup B section at the NMB?

EP Rugby have a very good deal at the stadium at the moment. Since June 2010 they have played all Currie Cup matches there and all buy 1 Vodacom Cup match at the stadium.

As for how EP should be promoted, I maintain that the play off should be scrapped, and the top team in the 1st division should be promoted.

Yes but don't they play away games to the Griffons and Pumas who got smashing 8000 seater stadiums?

Anyways how does this work. SARU owns a 50 percent stake in the Kings. Their return on their investment was 0 due to not playing in Super Rugby. So how does this bribe work? They give them 40 mil then they get 20 mil back on the investment and add sponsors promised and the huge 400 million merchandise industry which off course SAIL has no stake in that one and they could be all snorting coke with their mate Keohane this time next year

The Griffons play at North West Stadium, a 17 000 seater, it's not a great stadium though. The Pumas play at both Puma Stadium (20 000) and Mbombela Stadium (40 000). Mbombela Stadium is great, Puma Stadium, not so much.

As for the rest of your post, troll away.

SO you consider anyone who has done a bit of research and noticed that SARU owns a 50 percent stake in the Border and EP unions while receiving zero returns on their investment a troll?

No, I consider someone who asks if a team plays away matches, doesn't research stadia and then lies about them, and provides a rant about bribery to be a troll.

When is the last time the Pumas or Griffons filled a stadium? How many people in fact bother to go watch rugby over there?

As for the rant over the bribery it came from the newspapers and was all over the news. Plus SARU owns 50 percent of EP and Border. What ever they pay them they will get back a part of it. Which is strange. Why pay a team composation which you own 50 percent of yet you are the governing body of a countries rugby?

What does them attracting crowds have to do with the 'smashing 8 000 seater stadiums' comment? Have you looked at Super Rugby attendances, other than Bulls vs Stormers matches, very few sell out.

Owning a 50% stake in the unions doesn't mean that they automatically get 50% of the money. That would require the union controlled company to declare the money received as dividends (highly unlikely) or simply give the money back to SARU (even less likely).

Griffons do not play in Super Rugby nor does any other team in the B section. The Pumas attract around 17000 people or 23000 people dress as empty seats.

Off course you will not get half back instantly. But they will get some back over a period. But it clearly is a conflict of issues when your governing body has shares in two unions. Where do you think the money come from they are going to pay to the Kings? Why can't they just say Kings have to wait? After all they own half the union. Add half the Border stake and they have majority say in the Franchise.

Super Rugby is all about $$$$. Nothing else. They don't care 1 bit about rugby development in the Eastern Cape. All those fat cats got side businesses that will cash in big time if they do get in SR.

The Griffons don't play Super Rugby, but neither does any Currie Cup side. The unions make up the franchises. The Griffons are part of the Central Cheetahs and the Pumas part of the Bulls. As for the Pumas attracting an average of 17 000, I would love to see sources to back that up, it would be amazing.

Is there a conflict in SARu owning part of unions, sure, but SARU bought those stakes to kill the Southern Spears.
