Hello.
New to forum.
Have had my Home DSL 192 service for a couple of months. Been noticing that I get varying speeds, up to about 44kb/s (using Telkoms speed test). However on reading the FAQ related to the Telkom Speed Test it states:
"Cable and DSL Modems
The modem speed test pages are designed for, and tested on, ordinary analogue dial-up modems, and ISDN modems. Results of tests for other 'high speed' modems, such as, cable modems and DSL modems may be in-accurate. For example, tests between two computers over a simple ethernet (10Mbps) network indicate a throughput of less than half the theoretical maximum. However, it is possible that this in-accuracy is due to increased overheads which occur at such a high transfer rate"
Not being a techie, does this mean that the speed test is inaccurate for ADSL connections, and that I am actually not getting the high speeds I think I am?
Any comments would be welcome.
Thanks
