I finally got my Telkom Wimax Installed yesterday, and OMW its awesome.
35ms ping to local gaming servers.
65kb/s (for 512k)
freedom to use my own uncapped ISP
R220 (Line Rental) + 299 (ISP) = R519 pm
Compared to my Neotel Prime (un)Limited.
300ms to local servers (minimum ping)
3-4kb/s (at the best of times)
no freedom, isp wise
R999 pm
Sure I got connected the same day with Neotel, but they signed me up as full coverage (according to their system) got to my place and had barely any coverage (1bar). It is this that put me off, they sounded so confident in their product without testing my location for coverage. But paid R999 for a connection as slow as dial up.
Telkom came out to do some tests and confirmed i was propperly covered for Wimax, and then installed it. (sure it took 20 days) but rather do something propperly. Paying R500 odd, for an uncapped solution that is a million times faster than Neotel's 3kb/s.
Cheers Neotel, thanks for stealing money from me without reimbursing me for your mistakes, hope the wheel turns and u lose another couple billion rand next year.
