I hope when I return home on Monday evening that the switch has been flipped on my exchange.

I dreamed of the day when I can download an MP3 in 5 seconds and a movie in 10 minutes.

    Lets see..
Only connections where Metro Ethernet is and ADSL2+ equipment is used.
So...for those of us still on ADSL1, we will probably not see 10Mbps in years. Why would they want to upgrade their old ADSL1 exchanges, spending millions in doing so. Would they really when they have some financial problems ?
    I think not.

So...if you're not one of the "lucky few", don't bet on getting anything higher than 4Mbps for years to come.

"Telkom’s 4 Mbps ADSL subscribers have been waiting for another speed upgrade since September 2006 when the company’s DSL 1024 subscribers were bumped up to 4 Mbps free of charge".

Are any of the 384kbps ADSL lines going to be "bumped up" free of charge too? If so, to what speed? If not, why not? We have also been waiting for many years for a line speed increase.
