Some websites don't like the word cock even if it is a legitimate part but the principle applies to any word.

I gathered, just weird you chose a word that does work on this specific forum.

A better word might have been: w a n k or as the forum likes it: ****

    *edit*

Mods, please don't nail me for that word, I am presuming it not to be on the level of **** and ****.

I don't see anything pro about it.

Its more like an antifanity filter.

I don't mind seeing swearing, as long as it's not abused. However, I can understand that the mods may want it to 'keep more people happy'. What I would like though, is a 'smarter' filter. In the football section, the filter keeps messing up the name Royal Ba***eng Sports Palace. It's really annoying.

    Default Forum profanity filter.

    Howdy.

I understand that many people have an issue with swear words. I am not one of those people. What I have an issue with, is the decision being made on my behalf that a naughty word is somehow going to be a detriment to my well-being.

I also understand that this forum is not here for me and my vile desires, but I would still like to speak my mind if that's okay.

First of all, is it in any way possible for there to be some way users could control the profanity filter on an account to account basis?

If not at all possible, then my point is moot, but I'll continue anyway.

First of all, I see people are getting infractions left right and centre for bypassing the profanity filter, one way or the other. If there is some way to allow people to see swear words should they desire, this problem vanishes instantly right?

Just as a general gripe about the filter - It is rather stupid, blocks all sorts of words that are most assuredly not swearwords.

Just a point - Words can hurt and wound, regardless of the cultural acceptance of the actual word used. The most innocuous words can convey horrid messages, whilst swearwords generally are not used in an aggressive way on the forum, far as I can tell and if they are people use them anyway since they know that the system will star out the bad word.

Which is just bloody ridiculous since we all know what the word is meant to be. It's farcial!

I want to see some ****ing swearwords!

    Cheers.

No, a swearword is merely a word that some group of uptight puritans have decided gets their delicate magical underwear in a twist, for some indecipherable reason.

Much as I sympathise with you, we all acknowledged the Forum rules when we signed up. Hence we cannot cry wolf when we receive infractions for contravening said rules.

I am one of those on the receiving end but I have no excuse. It was a wilful disregard of the Forum rules.

    Infraction accepted!

Totally agree, just highlighting the fact that should such a thing be possible, everyone is happier and the mods have less to deal with.

    It is a total win-win.
