to change from FB to something else seems like effort ... how many of your FB friends will migrate there?

hosted on your pc? does this mean that you can only access someones page when they are online?

This privacy debate on facebook is ridiculous. if someone wants to see my list of friends, how many farmville animals credits I have or what movies I like... the more power to them.

Fail. 90% of the users on FB don't even care about privacy.

Lulz, my Diaspora friends will hate accessing my pages @ 192 kb/s.
And I am going to "de-friend" John who keep son accessing that picture of my GF, costing me 2000MB a month.

Actually, how can this work with most peeps home machines being offline most of the time?
    And, smartphones are useless servers.

You guys know you have some advance privacy features on FB that you can use? You can block some of your friends and custom choose what people can see and not. So what is the problem?

Facebook themselves are quite capable of viewing your blocked data and selling it off to the vendor of their choosing, many times over.
In fact, their policies almost blatantly say that that is exactly what they do.

    That's the problem.

    More:
Personally, I don't mind if they (FB) do, but there is no way in hell I will be putting any cell phone numbers or legitimate email addressees on that site.
Which of course is the problem, there are those that want to be able to list their actual email address and their actual contact details, and there are those who have already done so.
