A surprisingly bold move will force Vodacom and MTN’s hands...

Be quite funny if Vodacom and MTN launch something first in Jo'Burg. That would be slightly game over if you ask me

I used to enjoy Trevor, but now I'm sick of him. Hope the money he got out of Cell C covers the loss in reputation.

100% correct. Just match the offer and it is gone with cell c. But then again vodacom will not do that as they want to milk the guy that is on contract first.

I personally would end my contract and join Cell-C just out of principal. MTN and Vodacom only budge when there is competition against them. Had it not been for Cell-C they would and will continue to milk us and rip us off. When that Cell-C deal hits Joburg you can sign me up. I pay MTN roughly R500 a month for my 2GB I'll pay that off with Cell-C in 2 months with their R999.00 for 2GB for a whole year. Well done Cell-C keep the competition coming.

Got confirmation from SAINET- their 3G prices are not going to change in response to CellC until at least the end of the year.

They resell MTN 3G, afaik, so that puts MTN in the 'er, we were caught off guard and have no response' category.

Go CellC! As above- join them for the sake of it. You could have made/saved your money by the end of the year

Don't think they will be able to trademark their new logo. Looks exactly like the official copyright (C) symbol.

I have said it in one of the other threads. MTN and Vodacom will not make changes to their packages because of Cell C. They have too much marketshare and a host of people stuck on contract.

Cell C and virgin have come out with ground breaking stuff in the past, and those didn't result in the industry changing.

We can all hope that i would shake things up, but i dont see it happening.

What I really want to know is that if your not in PE atm, can you still buy the bundle and use the bandwidth? What would happen if I bought the bundle like right now and tried to connect in a place where only 2G/3G is available atm?

I'd just like to see an affordable unlimited mobile data plan even if its 2g or w/e

This is brilliant news for the industry and it shows how the consumer has been royally screwed over by vodacsum and MTN. I liken Cell C to what MWEB did earlier this year with their " free the web" campaign. I think people should just move over and kick the other 2 cartel operators, where it hurts in their pockets.

I will refer this package to all friends and family over DSL as it's actually coming in cheaper. especially when you factor in line rental costs.

    CELL C FTW!!!

To me there move of offering 100 anytime minutes at the same price as Vodacom charges for 100 off-peak minutes was huge. But no-one else seemed to notice. The SA consumer is just too brand loyal it seems. Or their marketing sucks big time.

I would def move from Vodacom to Cell C.

I wonder if I can do this now?
