Hi guys which one of the following will be the best to get

    http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N570G...r-Edition.html

    or

    http://www.computerstore.co.za/SC-A5...ap-p-57377.php

Strange thing is I cant find a 2gig Asus model on Asus website, and cant find a comparison either.

Prices for the 570? Coz i'm pretty sure you can find 7850's close to the price of a 560ti and it blows it out the water...and a 7870 keeps up with a 580 most times, let alone a 570. And with driver updates, will probably surpass it. So yea, my vote is neither Or wait for the 660ti and see what it can do.

I am leaning more to the 7850, but they are very close together according to this, so now i really don't know which one to get. Is there any performance loss with AMD radeon and Intel?

I want to wait for the 660ti, but don't know if I can wait that long

    I'd either get the GIGABYTE GV-R785OC-2GD, HD7850 @ R2624
    OR the MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC, GTX560 Ti @ R2390
Unfortunately both cards seem to be sold out at Rebeltech.

According to Techpowerup, the hD7850 is about 10% faster on average than the GTX560 Ti, which makes their performance/Rand pretty much the same.

Also, as you can see from Archer's chart, the GTX560 Ti & HD7850 offer roughly the same value for money:

Yes but what about the 570, tough choice between the 7850 and the 570, the 7850 runs allot cooler though.

    Can get the 570 for R2 734.86

Can anyone recommend a graphics card thats around the R500 range that will play 1080p videos well. Thats all I need. Havent been in the PC scene since the days of the 9800GT so I dont even know where to start. Thanks.

PS Will probably be getting it from RebelTech.

    Anything really...
But I do recall if you're in Linux, you'll probably want an Nvidia card. And if you want bitstreaming audio over HDMI you want AMD. Otherwise, its all the same really. I'm running with a HD5450 and no issues here

Lately I've had more success with AMD graphics cards under Linux than NVidia graphics cards. It used to be otherway round. Have a look at the HP Microserver thread in this sub-forum, because they're mostly using those servers for media servers, and they all REQUIRE a graphics card capable of 1080p video decoding!

my friend is bringing me an Asus graphics card from Sweden. I want to know if Asus south africa will honor the guarantee on the card,or will I have to return the card to Sweden for guarantee purposes. No stock in SA available on this card untill the end of August.

Swamped at work today, but should have GTX660 numbers up before Monday. Looks great from the little I quickly looked at, price is a bit high for whats supposed to be mid range, but the value is definitely still there

$300 is a bit high for them I think, but they fit nicely. The 7870 still looks like value though.

Thanks for the tables- very helpfull!

Made my decision easier to just get a 2nd hand HD 6950 for CF and skip the current generation HD and GTX cards.

Charts should be updated with the GTX660Ti numbers
Bloody good card, bit expensive maybe for the segment I expected it to fill, but if you can afford the roughly R3500 price tag there is nothing close to it in terms of value for money.
Due to this card, AMD has announced price drops on some of its cards, I will see if that filters down to the SA market, but for now, GTX660Ti or bust. Its an easy recommendation
