    I am quite impressed.

Data is signigicantly cheaper without bundles (R1 vs R2 a meg).
And 8ta to landline seems pretty good, although I am not sure what the current rates are of other providers.
    Sms prices are decent.

I would buy a sim card just to test it out.

But that leads to more questions. Will they open their own 8ta stores? I take it you will be able to port your number if you want to down the line?

You would think that with the recent buzz around the very attractive pricing from Cell C's for 3G data, Telkom would realise that their offering is going to be completely ignored unless they match or better it. Yet here they are launching 1GB at R250 a mere R39 less than MTN and Vodacom. Moving on....

    R240.83 (R289 / 1.2GB) - It's a lot cheaper if you buy in 2GB (R169.13 (R389 / 2.3GB)) bundles, 8ta does not have that option.

So 8ta launches at a much higher price than VC

    Major fail !
On the internet you can be anything you want.

It's strange that so many people choose to be stupid.

1 GB data for R250??? They are more expensive than any other mobile operator at launch!

8ta, petata. EPIC FAIL. Telkom will just never be able to compete in a competitive market. Get rid of this monster!!

Can we get equivalent package comparisons between all the operators so that we can compare apples with apples?

PS. does anyone know what Cell C's rates will be once their promotion is over?

Telkoms prepaid pricing is actually pretty good compared to vodacom and mtn. It should be fairly popular in the rural areas. But with cheap contracts like cell c's "all week 100" (100 anytime minutes for R49 a month) its not overly inspiring.

That is without factoring in the crazy cheap bandwidth available on the cell c network.

Oh well, lets hope 8ta does something special with their contract packages. We live in hope.
