Not sure why you are congratulating 8ta, I think they need to fix the problem where *1# doesn't work when roaming.

Question I would also like to know about the midnight balance check?

    Content:
You have used 8374 MB and have 1866 MB available. 1866 MB will expire on 30/09/2011.
    Time: 05/09/2011 19:53:03"

Since this is early evening, I presume this applies only to the 'regular' 10 gigs and not the midnight surfer. Couple of questions:

    1) How do I get my midnight surfer balance? Only after midnight?
    2) Is there any way to hard-cap my service? I _really_ don't want to pay out-of-bundle rates.
WHY did 8ta give me pro rata megabytes, since it is middle November? will I still pay for the full month subscription???

I applied for the midnight surfer and they forgot to activate it. Send a blank SMS to 2222 and you will either get one balance or two balances back. If you get only one, they forgot to activate you. The SMS option is useful if you're using a router, such as the Huawei, that supports SMS. USSD is useless on such a router. I actually had an 8.ta employee tell me to remove the SIM card from the router and stick it in a phone and use USSD every time I want to check the balance.

I have a somewhat similar question.

I have my 3G modem plugged into the TP-Link TL-MR3420 and it's working great, but if I found that I was running out of on my 10Gig/month, how can I add a top-up bundle without pulling the SIM and putting it into a phone?
I can add the airtime via my FNB account, but thereafter I would want to add the 2 + 1 Gig bundle.

Prepaid Once-Off Internet 2GB Promo Subscribers
If you are a Pre-paid Once-Off Internet 2GB Promo subscriber, then please dial *180# from your Handset or Modem Dashboard to purchase the bundle at only R149. You will receive 2GB plus 1GB Midnight Surfer Bundle.
That's for topping up prepaid - is there any special top-ups for the 10Gig contract users ?

Try going to onnet.8ta.com from a computer that's using the TP-Link to connect to the internet.

why do I get "invalid number" when I try send sms, would I get that if I run out of airtime?

I had a fight with the call centre this morning because no sms messages would go through. The young lady on the other end of the line told me that the phone was registered on Rica under someone else's name. I said that was impossible because I used my ID book etc at PEP Stores when we bought one of those cheapish 8ta phones for work. It turned out the person at PEP used my second name instead of my first name.

I need some assistant I wonder if the 8ta rep could possibly help me. I want to transfer 8ta airtime but would like to know the full USSD code and what is the max amount allowed to transfer. Reason I ask this cos Vodacom always would allow 80% of airtime to be transferred and the remainder would stay on sim card...

8ta answered this in a previous thread. In essence they said you can transfer R50 per session (not per day!), up to a maximum of R2000 per month.

I think the airtime transfer instruction is within the *180# menu.

When I check *180# There is 2 Data Bundle option.

    1.) All Networks Data Bundles
    2.) Telkom Mobile Data Bundles

What the difference? Can I buy option 2.) on 8ta sim?
