Thread: Cheap Weekend Getaway in or around Joburg this weekend

Default Cheap Weekend Getaway in or around Joburg this weekend

Well one of my good friends is getting married soon, and unfortunately planning was left to the last minute from the other folk and certain circumstances, it had to be more closer to now. We are wanting to do some small getaway this preferably this weekend.

I'm wondering if anybody knows of any places in or around Johannesburg, preferably cheap, yet satisfying, if there are animals around would also be quite nice too but right now, almost anything goes. It's just I've been browsing the net, and it's like one giant loop hole that inevitably goes nowhere, unless I'm just really bad at searching :P

But hopefully, some advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated!!

And maybe this post could be used to assist someone else later on who may also be in dire need of a nice weekend getaway.

    Thanks in advance
    Jono

Like anything would do at this stage If you have some camping sites, it might benefit some other people browsing this post, normally with my friends we got a nice spot we like to go to called Borakalelo just out Brits, cheap and wonderful, nice camping place.

But I think this crowds a little more tough to please, and not camping out tough. Unfortunately.. But anything could go, I like doing a bit of adventuring every now and then, so any posts are welcome

well there is kareekloof in meyerton it used to be an aventura, now I think it is forever resorts or something - has a supertube, trampoline, putt putt. no hot pools though. It is next to the suikerbosrand so if you enjoy hiking there are some really nice trails.
if you dont mind driving you can go to warmbaths: http://www.foreverwarmbaths.co.za/- this is probably the most fun, there is everything there- wave pools, tubes, indoor pools etc.
klein kariba http://www.klein-kariba.co.za/ near warmbaths, has hot pools etc
ATKV Buffelspoort magalis: that is more commercial with warm pools. its got water slides and tubes and stuff. quite a cool venue http://www.buffelspoort.co.za/index....&siteparam=eng only thing is they kick you out the pools at 23:00.
Mount grace- magalis http://www.africanpridehotels.com/mo...e-and-spa.html if you want a relaxing time
asvoelkraans: magalis- (cant find website) warm pool, jacuzzis and a paintball, just be careful because there is a nudist camp right near by lol- my cousin drove in there by mistake

if I think of any more ill add them

Klein Paradys: http://www.kleinparadys.caravanparks.co.za/ has a river with boats, warm and cold pool
pilanesberg: http://www.pilanesberg-game-reserve.co.za/ always great if you like nature trails
Badplaas: http://www.foreverbadplaas.co.za/ this is almost as good as warmbaths. there is a lot to do there- plus an indoor spa/pool area with water jets, freaking hot pools etc
Klein paradys 2: http://www.kleinparadys.co.za/31.Facilities.html havent been to this one, but I hear its also good
Atlanta: http://www.atlantaholidayresort.co.za/directions.html hot pools and a small game trail.

Thanks, and hopefully we can treat my buddy to an awesome weekend, his wedding's soon, so gotta get the last bits of what we can before he's got the lasso roping him in.
Pity the booking and stuff was left so late, the other guys kind of messed up, now it's up to me to save the day, so hopefully everything will be hunky-dory!
