Come on CELL C rep give us a rename on the driver for example [FIX] or something for now...

So people are adviced to download the latest fixed drivers to force WDCMA automatically.

http://twitter.com/cellc Link that CELLC supplied on twitter ain't working

Update had to clear my internet cache.

I got the latest firmware & dash (mobile connect) from dc-files.
Set WDCMA only. Trying anything to "fix" the timeout/dis-reconnect problem.

Just to confirm: if I download this version of the dashboard, and say, set it to WCDMA only, then plug out the Cell C stick and use it in a router, will it remember that setting?

Is the update and new drivers suppose to make a difference???

I'm still getting disconnected every few seconds. Is Cell-C going to get this right?

Cell C is sure making an effort to fix these issues.
They are aware of it & hopefully we get some feedback soon on the progress.

This is really frustrating to say the least. It goes well for half an hour or so and then it disconnects. Also, where is this whooosh they are talking about? Cell C is much slower than Vodacom or MTN and I have forced my connection to WCDMA only.

lol'd @ "I don't want HSPA, I want WCDMA". WCDMA is the underlying multiple access technology of HSPA. GSM uses TDMA (time division as opposed to WCDMA's wideband code division [mutually orthogonal codes]). Your RSSI is relatively weak, depends on the receiver sensitivity though, give an SNR figure if it's available, if it isn't, look for receiver sensitivity specs. Should be around -95 to -105 dBm if it's a good receiver.

Hello all - I am using the Cell C speedstick with an 8TA sim card as the data is cheaper (but not faster!). I found this link to the latest firmware upgrade and installed the latest drivers as above.

The result is that I now have WCDMA at 4-5 bars of signal whereas on 8TA I only ever had 2 before. So far I also haven't had a blue screen and I had quite a few of those recently.

    Has anybody used the Cell C 1820 with Vodacom? So far my speeds have been : 8TA - ping 82, 2mb d/l, 0.5 u/l. Cell C - ping 150, 4mb d/l, 1m u/l. Vodacom ping 62, 7mb d/l, 2mb u/l (through my i4s personal hotspot).

Is there any way to get lots of Vodacom data at a reasonable price? I just find myself struggling so much with slow 8TA and bad service Cell-C and Vodacom just works perfectly all the time... but it is too expensive.

Anyhow here is the latest firmware update - carrier neutral:
