So I got a call yesterday to upgrade from Prime Unlimited to Wimax pending a site visit.
Can anyone upload any photos of the hardware?

I assume its an antenna to a modem, then Rj45 from the modem to the Computer or Router supporting Wan Rj45.

I got the same call.
This is the info they sent me:

"The migration offer is aimed at our high end users who are on the NeoConnect Prime Unlimited and 10G packages. This is to ease congestion on our normal CDMA base stations which are used for these package by migrating them to a high speed internet wi-max base stations which are mainly used for small businesses as they have lesser contention ratio than our CDMA BTS’ this result is quicker internet traffic flow due to these base stations having more bandwidth capacity to accommodate high end internet users.

As wi-max is a dedicated link with a static IP address speeds ranging from 1.5Mb – 2Mb’s on upload and download can be expected. The service remains unlimited therefore there is no capping or traffic shaping implemented on your connection, you package will remain the same.

Once the installation has been completed and the wi-max service has been activated, although the wi-max antenna come standard with an LAN cable which you can use to connect 1 PC at a time we will supply you with a wireless router to use with your service."
They say that the equipment remains their property.

I am excited, cant wait for their site visit.

Got the same mail, was just hoping someone who has it already could post some photos.

It is a External Router (CPE) connected / mounted with a Pole on your roof which is connected with a single RJ45 to your PC/Switch. Power goes through via the RJ45 (PoE). Very Simple and very stable, constant 60ms to gaming servers, very constant speeds. Much better than ADSL 4mb

I also got the phone call. The guy who called me could not answer some of my questions so I asked him to email me the details.
Well it's been almost a week now and I have not heard from him again so I guess the offer's been retracted.
Some of the questions he could not answer:
- Will I still have the 2 hrs free local phone calls
- What happens if I terminate the new 2 year contract?
- Is there a so called "soft cap" at 35 GB and by how much is the traffic slowed down?

I've been debating with myself whether to call Neotel support center but I'm pretty sure they would not know how to put me in contact with the person who phoned me.

I used Prime Unlimited and I am using Wi Max at the moment without problems.

1. I can still use my Neotel Phone and I still got the free minutes of Prime Unlimited and can still connect with my Neotel Phone
2. Not sure about this one
3. There is no soft cap and the connection is unshaped and uncapped.

I get 2Mbit Up and 2Mbit Down

So I got my Wimax installed yesterday.
Hardware is as follows:
One moer long pole with the Antenna and Modem on it.
Ethernet cable running from the modem down into the house and then into a lightning box and then the powerpack for POE.
Then an Ethernet cable to my Router's Wan port.
I will take photos and attach them soon.

So Now I'm just waiting for the Account activation and my username and password.
From the email I received:
no capping or shaping on the account.
I can still use my Neotel Prime as a Phone.

So I got my IP detials and was told my account is now activated.
I put the Ips into my netgear Router and no internet.
Also tried pluggin the Wimax directly into my PC and then setup the IP's on my LAN connection, no luck there either.

Anyone got any ideas?

Dont Know if its PPPoE, but putting my existing username and password in with a static IP didn't work.
I remember them telling me there was no username and password. almost like you're plugging into a Lan network.
the internet light is flashing on my router, but nothing on the PC. Network status also says no internet access.

PeteGT,

The person that did the installation is supposed to test the service with his own laptop BEFORE he leaves. Get them back to test.
With IP settings i assume you mean static addy, as well as DNS info.

They did test it, and it worked fine.
After spending 30 minutes on the phone with Neotel this morning going through all the settings and trying the PC then the router, turns out the problem is on their side.

Waiting for it to be resolved now. I will take photos as soon as the rain gives up and post them as well as a speedtest God willing.

Problem has been sorted on their side.
I now have Wimax!
Will post pics and Speedtests soon.

Ok so now that everything is sorted here are the pics and speed tests.
Hoping to get my hands on the Axesstel Software they use to aim the thing.
The pole is a bit high and I'd like to bring it down a bit.

Gosh the price tag is a shocker on that service - I will stick to my Wooooosh and once the promotion comes to end I will probably port over to DSL :)
