What is wrong with my PC?

I get the impression that some of these anti-virus programmes generate false-positives to make them look good. I hope this isn't the case here... or is this machine genuinely oversubscribed with infections?

Doubt it with Malwarebytes. It's the sh*t.

I have no idea what is wrong with this pc but it is old and I am always adding and deleting things so it might be corrupted. Half the stuff don't work like crt alt del but since running the malwarebytes program it seems to be running ok for now. the defrag thing where it compresses the files for the disk cleanup is stuck on 3 green bars.

i started using that a few days ago when you guys mentioned it but it is irritating as it pops up all the time.

"Pops up" ? Weird. That only happens if it's a fake version or if you really have an infection.

If it's not updated regularly it will keep popping up. If it goes out of date, the protection stops until you update or upgrade. That's why I switched to Avira Personal edition.

yeah it pops up n the right hand corner telling me there's an issue and I must clean it or it tells me to run a full scan.

you laugh, on many occasions i took my pc apart and when i reassembled it i found some extra stuff.

hahahahaha, Wayne perhaps try to get someone to backup your stuff and format/reload it for you. I know its like killing a mouse with a bazooka but it sounds to me like you have a lot of mice...

Run a full scan while Windows is in safe mode. Restart the machine a press F8 just before Windows starts and select Safe Mode. Safe Mode will help MSE get full access to all files.

Install Avira Personal Edition and remove MSE, might have better luck.

You could also scan the PC with one of their CD's without loading windows.
