Hi Guys

Im in a bit of a pickle because my CD Drive on my MBP 13 Inch 2.4 is broken as well as my speakers going fuzzy. I assume I'll have to get these repaired soon so does anyone have an idea of how much this would cost or has anyone had the same problem before.

And if anyone is wondering how I broke it, It fell off my Kings Size Bed when I pushed it off in my sleep. ( Luckily the screen and alas was still okay )

Thanks

You can fix it yourself, or send it in to Core which is a gamble (they're morons), or you can get an external DVD-ROM, probably work out much cheaper but it's a clunkier solution.

Personally I hardly ever use optical drives these days, but I know some people still use them a lot.

Is it not still under the warranty period?

not too keen with the D.I.Y. vibe, anyone got an idea of how much it would cost for Digicape or the iStore to do it?

Why don't you ask them seeing they are the ones that are going to bill you for labour and whatever else.

It's really no that hard and you will probably do a better job than some lacky.

if you're close to Cape Town, consider DigiCape - they're great with their service and repairs on Macs.

This is pretty cool, might be worth throwing a little SSD (32gig) into the machine for booting and then keeping a big one for storage. I am going to have to look into this solution :)

Just noticed the external usb drive they give you needs 2 x usb ports. VERY IRRITATING!!!!!
