Thread: Lets talk about AFFIRMATIVE ACTION! "AA" "EE" "BEE"

Default Lets talk about AFFIRMATIVE ACTION! "AA" "EE" "BEE"

So I have business communication as a subject and the topic of AA EE and BEE came up, I would really like to know, how is AFFIRMATIVE ACTION not Racism and Discrimination!? its been more then 15 years since the apartheid regime has been over thrown so why still have this law or not just change the percentages a bit?

I'm not a racist and have many black friends but to me it feels as if this will never stop until white people are driven out of this country. (or that may be the Idea of the government.)

I have however thought about this and I believe that this can cause White people to just be tougher in the long run and become entrepreneurs and thus rise up... to bad that most young white people in this country are to lazy to work, but like I said, in the long run maybe we will be better off... but still how is AA not racism?

You think decades of inequalities can be corrected in only a decade and a half... This is best summarised in a

I have heard lots of racists use this excuse. You know, "some of my best friends are black..."

More on topic, the legacy of the past is going to take decades more to heal. The system is just too unbalance for natural attrition alone to fix it. It needs to be helped along, there are scores of white "anti-progressive" managers out there & these people are changing unless it's legislated.

it's racism in reverse, repeating past mistakes. plus, what about the black students out there who work hard to get where they are and all they hear is "oh well, bee, ee and aa is the reason you have your job." it means that who they are and how hard they worked means nothing.

not to mention the even wider line between black and white, especially since all races besides white have been classified as black. it's not equal, it's not right, it's not showing the world that we have moved on and learned from the past. in fact, the rest of the world who were supporting this change in sa, have actually commented on how it has been abused and how they want nothing to do with it. great, take the side of bee, ee and aa and when things go wrong they do a duck. QACK back at ya!

    .
Racism is the belief that the genetic factors which constitute race, ethnicity, or nationality are a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that ethnic differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.

Look buddy i'm not a racist I have black friends who I keep in touch with and who I go out with and have gone out with so you generalizing me is insignificant I think the 3,5 Mil White people in this country are below the number of black people that have riches and managerial positions. out of 80mil black people does only 100k have good careers? I think not.. I think over 5 million of them are in better positions then white people...

Let's rather not talk about. The truth is as relative as almost anything else. The developedness of Africa needs to sort itself out in its' own time. Just as Europe sorted itself out in it's own time. Politicians in Africa are trying to force an issue that shouldn't be forced.

I didn't accuse you of racism...I was just pointing out that the reason you cite for your 'non-racism' is a bit flimsy. You can be racist even with black friends.

Now regarding the little numbers game you play... I suggest you go & get yourself informed. Unemployment amongst white people is 3-5% while amongst blacks it's around 20%. There are more numbers regarding the racial divide in this country's economics out there. Go read those & then start debating. You are now debating from a position of utter darkness.

AA is not going to help the 40+ million black people.

Think about it - how many whites are left? 5 million? Now take the job away from each and every white person and give it to a black man. Now, 5 million whites have no income, while only 5 million more blacks do. So, my question is, what is the ANC going to do about the other 35 million black people? Answer: NOTHING. They havent thought that far ahead.

Which means that AA, if pushed to extremes, is still ineffective in addressing the income inequality, all it will do is bankrupt all of the whites and force them to leave the country.

    EDIT:

Oh and look, thanks to wikipedia:
In post-apartheid South Africa, unemployment has been extremely high as the country has struggled with many changes. While many blacks have risen to middle or upper classes, the overall unemployment rate of blacks worsened between 1994 and 2003.[31]
Even with AA (or maybe because of AA and BEE?), black unemployment has worsened since the ANC came to power. Still think its doing anything good for black people?

So 95-97% of 5mil white people are employed and 80% of 40mil black people are employed, ie
    Whites employed: 4,750,000
    Blacks employed: 32,000,000
    ?

(rough figures, I'm not counting the people that the term "unemployment" doesn't take into account)

You don't expect me to comment on this ridiculousness, do you? Think about what you typed for a minute.
